Cincinnati Enhanced by University Students
Apr 25, 2018 by Sam ValkThe 2018 Spring Cincinnati Enhancement program had its kick-off celebration on the 14th of April, partnering with the University and our own Center for Community Engagement. The event is designed to focus on neighborhoods of the city with expressed needs, and a combined effort brings public services and volunteers to those communities to reduce crime, make the city more beautiful, and improve the environment for our citizens. Students woke up early to go out by 8:30am on the weekend preceding the last week of classes for students. Eager to help and more awake than I could ever dream of being at that time in the morning, students gathered to go across the city in McMicken Circle.

Cincy Cleaned by Hundreds of UC Volunteers Despite Cold and Snow
Apr 12, 2018 by Sam ValkCleanup Cincy is an event hosted by the the University of Cincinnati student led-group, Clean Up Cincy. The group, started in 2015 by UC students committed to beautification for Cincinnati, had just 350 members that first semester they went out. Not only was the event a great way to earn community service hours for various scholarship and extracurricular programs, but this event since its founding has been a way to clean up the city and rid twelve distinct areas of Cincinnati and surrounding municipalities of litter.
