Tip 1: Be Specific

The newest generation born from 1995-2010 is known as Generation Z, or Gen Z for short. These are our rising freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors at the University of Cincinnati.

Fun Fact: With Generation Z, you have 8 seconds.

Man screaming the word what

8 seconds? What, that's ridiculous ?!? But it's true, studies show that you have 8 seconds to grab the attention of a GenZer. So it's important to be specific, be engaging, and share your story.

First, let's hit on being specific.

1. In the descriptions part of the agency "Who We Are" and "What We Do" make the information about your agency clear, precise, and specific no more than 3-4 sentences. (Remember your target audience) *Make sure you hit update after you've completed your editing, or the information will not be saved.

2. When posting a need make sure to hit the 5Ws - Who, What, When, Where and Why. Clear and concise. Don't overthink the message. Make it student-friendly, make it as easy for them as to volunteer, and make it straight to the point.

The more specific you are about the task that students will be doing, the more likely you will be able to grab their interest. Remember, there are only 8 seconds so it's important to get straight to the point.
