Join CGC Horticulturist Julie for some hands-on gardening experience at the Hauck Botanic Garden. This 100-year-old public park serves as our outdoor classroom and the backdrop for everything we do. And it’s all thanks to volunteers like you!
At a Hands On at Hauck educational workday, you’ll learn the basics of year-round garden maintenance: planting, weeding, pruning, mulching, watering, seed collecting and more. Then you’ll work with other volunteers to accomplish garden-related projects and keep our park beautiful. No prior knowledge or skills needed. Whether you’re totally new to gardening or have many years of experience this workday is for you! The ability to kneel and use hand tools is recommended but not required.
Please bring gloves if you have them and a water bottle. Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you’re comfortable getting dirty. All other tools and materials will be provided.

Where to park & meet:
The Civic Garden Center: 2715 Reading Road, Cincinnati, OH 45206. There is parking available in our main parking lot, through out the garden, or across the street at 538 Oak Street.
What to bring: A refillable water bottle, bug spray and/or sunscreen, gardening gloves, closed-toed shoes, and appropriate clothing for the weather. All other tools and gardening materials will be provided.
Weather concerns: Rain or shine! We won’t let a little rain get in the way, but if severe weather arises, we’ll notify you of any changes to the event.
