The WWC has a number of beautiful wooded properties along the Ohio River, west of downtown. One of our biggest tasks is removing invasive plants such as honeysuckle, so that native plants including wildflowers can return. This is physical outside work, cutting honeysuckle, and putting the cut honeysuckle into large piles. We do this as members of the WWC, and several times a year we have service groups including UC students help us too. BUT WE NEED MORE HELP! There are acres of gorgeous woods just waiting to be set free!
NOTE: attached is a file with a lengthy description of the habitat restoration work.
Work 9:30 am until 12:00 pm (2.5 hours) but get 3 hours credit.
This particular Saturday project will be at our Buckeye preserve in Saylor Park. There is a driveway leading to the parking lot between 6442 and 6452 Hillside Ave, 45233. There is a Western Wildlife Corridor sign at the driveway. If you get to the intersection of Rockaway and Hillside, you are close!
