Mock Sangeet was a large-scale cultural event hosted by South Asian American Students Association at the University of Cincinnati designed to celebrate South Asian traditions through a mock wedding festival experience. Inspired by the Sangeet, a traditional pre-wedding celebration centered around music, dance, and community, the event introduced students to an important aspect of South Asian culture in an interactive and inclusive setting.
The program featured performances, music, dancing, themed décor, and social activities that recreated the energy and joy of a South Asian wedding celebration. It was open to all UC students and attracted more than 500 attendees, making it one of the largest cultural events on campus.
Beyond entertainment, Mock Sangeet promoted cultural awareness, cross-cultural connection, and student engagement by giving attendees an opportunity to experience and learn about South Asian customs in a welcoming campus environment.
