South Asian American Students Association
SAASA (South Asian American Students Association) is a registered student organization at the University of Cincinnati focused on celebrating South Asian cultures, identities, and community on campus. Its mission is to create an inclusive space where students can connect with their heritage, build friendships, and share South Asian traditions with the broader university community.
The organization hosts large-scale cultural and social events such as Garba, Holi, Diwali celebrations, and Mock Sangeet—a mock South Asian wedding festival that drew more than 500 students. These events promote cultural awareness, student engagement, and cross-cultural connection across campus.
Beyond events, SAASA serves as a community hub for students seeking belonging, representation, and leadership opportunities. It also helps members develop skills in event planning, teamwork, budgeting, outreach, and campus collaboration.
South Asian American Students Association engages University of Cincinnati students by creating inclusive cultural, social, and leadership opportunities that bring students together across backgrounds. The organization hosts large campus events such as Diwali celebrations, Holi festivities, Garba nights, and Mock Sangeet, which attract broad student participation and introduce South Asian traditions to the wider UC community.
SAASA also builds engagement through regular meetings, collaborative events with other student organizations, and social gatherings that help students form friendships and a sense of belonging on campus. Students can take active roles in planning events, volunteering, marketing, and leadership, giving them hands-on experience in teamwork, communication, and event management.
By combining cultural programming with community-building opportunities, SAASA creates meaningful ways for UC students to connect, learn, and get involved.
