The Chama (Swahili for coming together for a cause/party) started in 2013 as a way to increase awareness of Africa Fire Mission’s work and to raise funds for our cause. This year’s theme is Igniting Hope: Empowering African Firefighters This year we will be celebrating and raise fund for our work training, equipping, and advocating for firefighters in Africa! Last year AFM’s firefighter training and community awareness impacted over 13 million people – that’s a lot to celebrate and we have more to do! Our vision is for every firefighter and fire department in Africa to be well equipped, to have community champions and to be able to serve their communities with quality and professionalism. We want to see communities that know what to do to prevent disasters and that know what to do to stay safe when disaster strikes. At the Chama - Our hope is that attendees can enjoy a fun night out as they learn the history of Africa Fire Mission, our impact (locally and internationally), and vision for 2025 and beyond. Additionally, it is an opportunity for people across the country to gather in fellowship and celebrate the impact their generosity has had on fire safety, the welfare of firefighters, and sustainability of the fire service in Africa.
