The Giving Fields is a non-profit project in Melbourne, KY (just across the I-275/471 bridge), "to grow fresh produce to support N. Kentucky residents in need of emergency food assistance." We have been invited to help during their heaviest harvest time in July and August, benefitting La Soupe on these days.
Sign up for one or all gleaning shifts. We will be there gleaning on 4 different Tuesdays, but you must register to get a spot. (Please, do not simply show up at the farm if you have not registered. We can only accommodate registered volunteers.)
The work will happen in the farm's fields in a variety of weather. It may involve bending/stooping, pulling, digging, some heavy lifting, and generally getting dirty. There will also be some walking over uneven ground to the harvest sites. This will vary each time.
Registered volunteers will receive specific instructions about where to meet at the farm.
