Event Description:

Want to help the MetroParks Identify what plants and animals are living in our parks? Angst Nature Preserve MetroPark is an 84-acre former farm that was opened up to the public in October 2021. In 2023, we seeded a 6-acre prairie, 42-acre native grassland, and began the riparian reforestation project. We are calling all citizen scientists to help see what pollinators, native trees and other wildlife are living in the park. Through the use of the app iNaturalist, you can help collect and record data on the park to help us better understand how successful our rewilding project has been.

A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a given time, in a specific area (National Geographic), and promotes community understanding of the importance of biodiversity.

Task:

We are looking for volunteers to come out to Angst Nature Preserve MetroPark on their own time between May 18th and June 16th to collect data on the pollinators, native plants, trees, and wildlife living in the MetroPark. During orientation Volunteers will meet with staff and be trained on how to use the app and collect data appropriately then visit the park at their convenience to collect and record data through iNaturalist

iNaturalist website and app can be found HERE
