Immigrant Welcome Center - Special Projects Volunteer OVERVIEW OF BLOC: We are an inner city ministry that lives and works in the neighborhoods we serve. Our mission exists to build relationships with our neighbors and share hope in brokenness. We target neighborhoods that are underserved. We have a staff size of about 75 where we have after school programs, sports performance center, houses for women in sex trafficking, men and women transitional homes, two coffee shops, screen printing, and other forms of ministry to love our neighbors. WHO WE ARE The Ola Immigrant Welcome Center is comprised of BLOC staff and volunteers working directly with families, and students, and partnering with other nonprofits to provide services. The IWC guides and equips immigrants to thrive in their new community by providing one-stop, customized, coordinated care plans, collaborating with partner organizations. offering in-house programs that fill key gaps in service offerings. engaging and mobilizing the greater community. creating opportunities to celebrate culture and build community. WHAT VOLUNTEERING LOOKS LIKE The volunteer would meet, virtually or in person, with the IWC Ministry Leader to understand the research objective, perform research, and review the progress on the output required. The volunteer will need to bring their computer. As a Special Projects Volunteer, you will assist the Ola IWC team with key initiatives and events designed to empower immigrant families. Duties may include: Assisting with planning and coordinating events, workshops, and outreach activities. Researching and gathering resources to support program development. Helping create promotional materials and content for various initiatives. Providing logistical and administrative support for ongoing projects. Maintaining organized documentation of project milestones. Volunteers will meet virtually or in person with the IWC Ministry Leader to receive instructions, review progress, and coordinate tasks. Volunteer must bring their computer for project-related work. HOURS This volunteering opportunity is flexible, requiring 2 hours per week - one semester commitment The schedule can be coordinated to fit both the volunteer’s availability and the Ministry Leader’s needs.
