Volunteers will work with Parks Staff at Larz Anderson Park in Mt.Lookout.
Larz Anderson Park - 2905 Golden Ave 45226
A variety of tasks will be on the list for this project: Planting, mulching, invasive plant removal.
Loppers and handsaws will be used to cut back invasive plants. Volunteers will dig holes to plant trees and then mulch in, stake and fence in the newly planted trees. Pitchforks and wheelbarrows will be used to mulch around trees. Trees will be staked and fenced in. Mulching trees is beneficial for the maintenance and beautification of the park, providing protection to trees by holding moisture in the soil and as a barrier to root systems. Staking and fencing will stabilize and protect small trees.
Volunteers should be prepared for the weather in layered clothing, wear long pants and layers (long sleeves), close-toed, sturdy shoes are required. Suggested: refillable water bottle - there will be water cooler on site for volunteers to fill a bottle. Cincinnati Parks discourages single - use plastics.
