Cincinnati Parks is hosting several service projects city- wide for National Public Lands Day (NPLD).
The annual National Public Lands Day (NPLD) celebration is the largest single-day volunteer effort for America’s public lands. Each year, hundreds of thousands of volunteers come together on the fourth Saturday in September to assist land managers with environmental projects designed to enhance and restore national parks, recreation areas, wildlife refuges, and other public lands and waters. In 2019, over 2,000 public lands sites across the US hosted NPLD events, and together they engaged more than 150,000 volunteers in hands-on conservation activities.

Volunteers should be prepared for the weather (lightweight clothing), wear long pants. Close-toed and sturdy hard sole shoes are required. Recommended: Work gloves (if you own them), sunscreen, face covering and a refillable water bottle. There will be work gloves available to borrow and a water cooler will be provided on site for volunteers to refill bottles. Cincinnati Parks discourages single use plastics.
Regarding Covid-19:
In efforts to stop the spread, for the safety of our staff, volunteers and community please consider the following guidelines:
- Please take your temperature within 4 hours of the start of the project. If your temperature is higher than 100.4*, do not attend. Call or text Christyl @ 513.240.5735 to alert staff that you will not be present.
- Do not participate If you or someone in your home is symptomatic (e.g., fever, cough, shortness of breath), or if someone you’ve come into close contact with is under investigation or diagnosed with a laboratory-confirmed case of COVID-19.
- Please use face covering and practice social distancing at all times while on the site.
- Please use gloves at all times to handle the tools and equipment.
