Assist Parks staff in mulching tree rings, picnic tables and playset areas.
Bowdle Park & Dunore Park are located on Ludlow Avenue, within a mile of campus.
You will receive an email with meeting place details 48 hours prior to the day of service.
Volunteers will use pitchforks, wheelbarrows & rakes to load mulch up and distribute throughout the designated areas.
Some of the advantages of mulch: Protects the soil from erosion, reduces compaction from the impact of heavy rains, conserves moisture, reducing the need for frequent waterings, maintains a more even soil temperature, prevents weed growth, provides a protective barrier from equipment like mowers, and lastly - it provides a "finished" look to the garden.
Volunteers should be prepared for the weather (lightweight clothing), wear long pants. Close-toed shoes are required. Recommended: Work gloves (if you own them), sunscreen, face covering and a refillable water bottle. There will be work gloves available to borrow and a water cooler will be provided on site for volunteers to refill bottles. Cincinnati Parks discourages single use plastics.
