Description

PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH. Come bust some stress in nature while helping Burnet Woods by removing honeysuckle, porcelain berry, and pulling euonymus! Meet in front of Trailside Nature Center. Bring gloves, water, any needed personal medications. Close-toed shoes are REQUIRED and long-sleeves are recommended. Dress appropriate to be off trail outdoors exposed to weather. Volunteers will be required to sign a waiver. Rainy, slippery, or windy conditions cancel the event; light snow usually not a problem. Please note that on invasive removal day, park restrooms and buildings will not be available as they are closed for the season.

Invasive plant removal is physical labor and can be strenuous. Students should not participate at a level which exceeds their personal abilities.

AN ADDITIONAL 2 SERVICE HOURS ARE AVAILABLE to student able to attend an Invasive Plant Removal Training Session on either Thursday 12/5 OR Thursday 12/12. Sessions are 6:00-8:00pm at Trailside Nature Center. Students must attend BOTH a single training date (12/5, 12/12) AND the work day (12/14) to get the additional 2 hours. This opportunity for additional hours is a reflection that trained volunteers are more effective in removal efforts. Students can only receive the extra 2 hours for one of the two sessions.
