The University of Cincinnati's National Society of Black Engineers chapter is hosting our annual event A Walk for Education (AWFE)! Per our organization's national website, the purpose of AWFE is "to increase awareness of the opportunities available through education particularly in the STEM fields and to shatter myths about African-Americans in math, science, engineering, and other technologies." We are aiming to educate people about the opportunities in STEM by sharing information on higher education, the University of Cincinnati, and other surrounding colleges and the STEM programs they have to offer.
We are in need of volunteers! Volunteers will be asked to be present from 9:30 AM-2:30 PM to do things like pass out information to attendees, host a UC booth, and/or hold signs that help identify the event. Some volunteers will be asked to walk around some neighborhoods and hand out bags containing information regarding UC, surrounding colleges and their programs to residents. Transportation and coffee will be provided for volunteers. This event counts for 5 HOURS of STEM community service and counts for service hours to go towards Cincinnatus and other scholarships.
A Walk for Education will take place on Saturday, October 19th, 2019 from 10 AM-2 PM at South Avondale Elementary School. If you can join us, we would love your help!
