STAR Club (Science, Technology, Arithmetic, and Reading) is a tutoring program offered through Wesley Chapel Mission Center each Saturday. Students arrive to STAR Club at 10:30am to eat breakfast. Volunteer tutors will be in place to greet and eat with our children. While students and tutors finish breakfast and engage in simple card or board games, the STAR Club Coordinator matches tutors with students one-on-one. At 11:00 a.m. students and volunteers move to their work sites to begin the assigned curriculum provided by the STAR Club Coordinator. This session concludes at 12:00 noon when the group reconvenes for a hands-on academic enrichment activity organized by the STAR Club Coordinator. At 12:20 the group gathers once again, and each student has an opportunity to share something they learned throughout the morning.
Please do NOT sign up unless you are sure you are able to attend. We invite the students based on the number of volunteers we have so please sign up by Wednesday at 5:00 for the upcoming Saturday. Feel free to sign up as far in advance as you would like.
