Volunteer Hours:
Monday - Friday
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Saturday (pre-scheduled groups)
9:00 AM - 11:00 AM or
11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Saturday (individual walk-ins)
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Volunteers perform a variety of activities in the Processing Center, mostly of a non-stressful physical nature. Volunteers would be helping to evaluate, sort and process various supplies, participating in activities such as:
- Evaluating, categorizing and processing new or gently used clothing
- Sorting, matching and sizing shoes
- Assembling personal care, education and first aid kits
- Sorting plastics for recycling
- Distressing or removing labels from clothing
- Removing products from retail packaging
- Sorting and reblending paint
- Separating and blending liquid soaps
- Sorting and processing sanitary supplies
There are family-friendly volunteer stations as well as stations to accommodate various special needs. Volunteers should wear comfortable, close-toed shoes, clothes they don’t mind getting dirty and would not be devastated if they got a small tear or spot. Layering is recommended in the colder months.
