Are you interested in supporting bike camp? Join us for be.well’s one week, learn-to-ride program for kids with chronic or complex medical conditions.
During bike week, riders attend the same 75 minute session each day for five consecutive days. The first two days of camp are spent working on indoor riding, using adapted roller bikes. Riders will eventually graduate to outdoor practice on their own, 2-wheeled bikes. All sessions are led by iCan Shine staff and supported by the be.well team.
At all times, riders are required to have spotters, who help with bike speed and braking, while riders focus on other foundational cycling skills. We are looking for your support!
To staff the camp, we will require spotters for >200 volunteer slots.Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. Many volunteers who are spotting at the beginning of the week are "walking" with riders. By Friday, a spotter's fitness and ability to jog are required.
We encourage your volunteer participation in more than one signup slot (e.g., back to back sessions) or regularly volunteering for the same session time during the week, in order to foster relationship building with riders.
