In the Fall, volunteers collected a lot of milkweed seeds pods from around the county, Now the seeds are dried, we want to package them. Throughout the year, these packets are handed out for free to the public. Our goal is to increase monarch habitat, as their caterpillars are dependent upon this plant. No milkweed = no monarch butterflies.
In addition to milkweed seeds, we will also be packaging other native seeds such as wild quinine, blazing star, purple coneflower, and blue false indigo.
What: During the event, we will be measuring seeds and placing them in small packs, then affixing labels. For anyone that helped in past years, we no longer need to separate the milkweed fluff by hand. A few of us worked in this in December.
Ages: For ages 14 and up, unless accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Waiver: Anyone under the age of 18 will need to bring a copy of our waiver signed by their parent or guardian. Find it at https://www.butlerswcd.org/volunteer
Parking: We have a large, free parking lot.

Snacks: We will have drinks and snacks available.
