The Cincinnati Ethics Center is seeking volunteers to work as room assistant, moderators, and judges for the Greater Cincinnati Regional High School Ethics Bowl. All volunteers are required to work a minimum of two rounds. Options are: Rounds 1 and 2, Rounds 3 and 4, Rounds 1-3, Rounds 2-4, or Rounds 1-4. Undergraduate students should select moderator and/or room assistant as their role.
You must also register on the official volunteer registration link: https://www.cincyethics.org/high-school-ethics-bowl-volunteer/, as important information regarding meal selection (if shift qualifies for) and t-shirt size is collected. All volunteers arriving for Round 1 shifts are invited to partake in continental breakfast being provided.
There is an online, self paced, volunteer training that all new volunteers are required to take. This will take approximately two hours and volunteers are allowed to submit the time taking the training for volunteer credit. Ethics Bowl is a debate style competition that scores high school teams on their ability to thoughtfully analyze and discuss complex ethical dilemmas, demonstrating skills in critical thinking, respectful dialogue, and clear reasoning rather than simply arguing to win. Volunteers will help facilitate these discussions, ensuring a fair and engaging experience for all participants. Each match requires three judges, one moderator and room assistant.
