The 22nd Annual Hunger Walk & 5K Run!
Funds raised support Freestore Foodbank's network of 613 partner food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and community centers that help us provide 37 million meals each year to hungry children and families in the tri-state area.
Various Event Tasks:
Registration Station: Volunteers will assist with setting up the registration tent.
- Duties include arranging the tables, alphabetizing the information bins, and organizing the t-shirt boxes by size.
- Once the registration is open, volunteers will assist with providing event packets and t-shirts to participants.
- After the race begins, volunteers will begin breaking down the registration tent: duties include (packing remaining supplies into their designated containers, disassembling the tables.
T-Shirt Sales Assistant - Sell Hunger Walk Shirts before the event begins.
Direction Ambassadors - Direct people where they need to go when asked.
Giveaway Assistant - Give away free items after the event during the afterparty.
Water Station at Mehring Way and Gest Street - provide water to walkers/runners as they pass the water station.
Hydration Squad—Finish Line—The cheer squad will be at the finish line and will provide bottled water as runners/walkers cross it.
**Volunteers will receive a Hunger Walk t-shirt to wear during the event**
Minimum Age: Volunteers must be at least 14 to volunteer at this event.
How To Register:
Individuals: Signing up is easy. Click on the SIGNUP button and follow the simple steps, and you'll be registered. Shortly after that, you will receive an email confirming your registration and other essential details about your event. After signing up, all you have to do is show up!
Groups: To begin the registration process for a group, you will need to complete the Group Request Form, an online survey that will tell us how many spaces to reserve for your team. After you have completed the online survey, our Volunteer Engagement Specialist will contact you to confirm the date and number of slots to reserve for your team and will give you a unique weblink that you can provide to your team to sign up. Completing this quick survey DOES NOT register your group for a day of volunteering. We will respond within two business days to start the registration process.
