Hospice of Cincinnati is the largest non-profit hospice provider in the Cincinnati region and is a part of the TriHealth System. Vigil volunteers provide a compassionate presence and promote a relaxing environment for those in the last 24 - 48 hours of life when symptom management is not required. High need for Evening, Nights and Weekends. The duties include active listening, empathetic conversations, observing for symptom changes and escalating needs to the HOC care team. No hands-on care is required. Students are allowed to bring study materials while sitting vigil. The minimum shift is 2 hours although 4 hours is preferred. Shifts can be prescheduled or sign up same day. Transportation is required as most vigil requests occur in Assisted Living or Nursing home facilities.
