Tip 4: Create Connections

People are the most important thing.

Great things will follow if you have the right people.

Here at the Center for Community Engagement, we hear nothing but great things about the community service opportunities offered by great people like you! Students have garnered relationships and connections with different community partners and have enjoyed their impact overall.

It is important to show that you care about student volunteers and track their hours.

How Does it Work?

1. To give volunteers service hours, volunteers must first sign up for your volunteer needs.
2. After they have fulfilled their volunteer responsibilities, they will receive a reminder email from our system to submit their hours to agency managers for approval.
3. As an agency manager, you will receive an email when someone has submitted hours for approval.
4. Go to time tracking and approve/deny hours based on who attended.
5. Please keep a record of who shows up to your volunteer opportunities

Also, feel free to send a personalized message. Make students feel appreciated and heard.

Tip: To increase the percentage of volunteers who show up. Don't rely on the auto-emails. Contact everyone who signed up or email volunteers after they respond to a need.

If you have special instructions. For example, park in the lot behind the building. Make sure to include that in your email.

Greet all volunteers and make them feel welcome. It will make the student more eager to be engaged and active. #UCCenterforCommunityEngagement
