Hughes STEM High School

Who We Are

After Hours in the Tower (AHT) is 21st Century Community Learning Center funded program coordinated by the University of Cincinnati in collaboration with Hughes STEM High School. AHT seeks to increase literacy and math skills, increase college entrance exam scores, and provide each student with an individual plan following high school by embedding these components through after-hours programming.

Hughes STEM High School is located across the street from the University of Cincinnati at 2515 Clifton Ave, and specializes in technology education, with pathways in engineering, health and bioscience, software development, and plant and animal sciences. As a Cincinnati Public School, they serve 7-12th grade students. In the 2013-2014 school year, the Ohio Department of Education identified 85% of the student population as economically disadvantaged and the school reported a 70% graduation rate.

What We Do

After Hours in the Tower activities are primarily hosted at Hughes STEM High School with occasional visits to the University of Cincinnati and other community partner locations. AHT program runs Monday through Thursday from 3:15pm until 6:15pm.

The Center for Community Engagement is committed to strengthening the relationship between the University of Cincinnati and Hughes STEM High School to supplement the academic opportunities available to students, and encourage Hughes students to pursue higher education at the University of Cincinnati.
