About our Organization

9/11 Day non-profit was created shortly after the September 11th terrorist attacks by David Paine and Jay Winuk. David and Jay wanted something good to come from the loss of so many lives in the 9/11 tragedy, including Jay’s younger brother, Glenn, an attorney and volunteer firefighter who was killed while responding at the World Trade Center. They began with a simple idea: Let’s take back the day by turning the anniversary of 9/11 into a day of doing good.

How our organization engages UC students

  • I'm one of the volunteers for the 9/11 National Day of Service and this year we're doing a large volunteer event in Cincy at Cintas Center. I would love to work with someone in your office who can help me recruit a bunch of UC students, admin or alumni on this day to help us pack meals for the local area food bank on Monday, 9/11. We're in need of 200+ volunteers for the Meal Packing tables (2hr shifts: 9-11am and 12-2pm). This year, we'll host our event in 19 cities nationwide on Monday, September 11. This year, over 20,000 volunteers, including military veterans and first responders, will come together to pack 6 million meals for individuals experiencing food insecurity in America. Here's a quick video about our events, which always garner national TV coverage 9/11 National Day of Service Video that captures the essence of the experience. Nationally, we aim to pack over 6 million meals, all of which would be donated to and distributed by the local Feeding America-affiliated food banks in each community.
