We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
Meeting twice weekly, girls in grades 3-8 learn life skills through fun, engaging lessons that creatively integrate running. The 20-lesson curriculum is taught by certified volunteer Girls on the Run® coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork, and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large. At each season's conclusion, the girls complete a 5K event. The result? Healthy, confident girls who CAN!
Our program is led by caring adults who volunteer their time, passion for health, and mentorship to the girls on our teams. Coaches are provided all the training necessary to help lead small teams of girls through physically active games and our research-based curriculum, while helping them train for a 5K. We recruit coaches for each of our seasons - fall and spring - from all over our council, including staff and students at UC. We are the chosen philanthropy for Gamma Phi Beta sorority and often have members coaching and volunteering at the 5K.
