About our Organization

The Northside Farmers Market has operated for over 20 years in our community. We are open every Wednesday, rain or shine, year round. We have about 25 vendors, a third of which are local farmers selling produce, free-range meats, dairy, eggs and honey. We are the only well established market in Cincinnati whose explicit mission is to expand food access in our community, in addition to supporting local farmers and food producers. We serve this mission by offering and participating in numerous food access programs and by creating a vibrant community space for learning and connecting with others. We were one of the first markets in Cincinnati to accept SNAP/EBT benefits and match SNAP dollars with Produce Perks, which are free tokens to spend on fruits and veggies. Our market is more than a market. In addition to prioritizing food access programs, we provide weekly programming for kids, live music, special market events like clothing swaps and iced-tea making workshops, and the "Community Corner," a booth where customers can share and learn about additional community resources. We believe strongly that farmers markets are for everyone!

How our organization engages UC students

We are less than 3 miles away from UC and serve the Clifton population as an adjacent neighborhood to Northside. We proudly accept SNAP/EBT benefits and can double SNAP benefits with Produce Perks, a program that allows us to match up to $25 per SNAP transaction with Produce Perks that can be spent on fresh fruits and veggies. (Free money for fruits and veggies!) We have invited UC students to lead surveys on climate change at market and we host Science Harvest once a month, a UC student led science program for kids at market. Our market is fun and vibrant and welcoming to everyone. We celebrate diversity and hope that our vendor line up and customer base reflects this. We have opportunities for interested students to get plugged in, meet local farmers, volunteer, and take part in a vibrant weekly community space.
