About our Organization

(CCFY) is a unique fitness program that introduces young people to cross-country training, character-building and nutrition concepts to develop the whole person. Cross Country For Youth focuses on helping children learn to run cross country and live healthy lives with character. In fulfilling that mission, we are addressing the two most important components of a child's development at the most vulnerable time in their lives. We're addressing their need for great health and great character. As we engage the students regarding their character, we also help them become healthier through our Nutrition Education curriculum we deliver each week. Additionally, we educate them on healthy nutrition choices in food and drinks. By helping them internalize the virtues and benefits of great nutrition, great physical conditioning and great character we are creating informed, educated and enthusiastic members of the community who will lead positive and constructive lives now, and in the future. We’ve also introduced a Social – Emotional curriculum during the pandemic which has equipped our students with tools to manage their emotions. The students also compete in three races (3K) races in the fall.

How our organization engages UC students

CCFY programming takes place twice a week for ten weeks. A typical day of activities begins with the character or nutrition focus of the day and an overview of cross-country principles. The day continues with stretching, a group run and wrap-up exercises. By developing high character in the children and healthy habits, we are helping them to become high integrity contributors to the community.    We teach the kids to love running cross country and to maintain an active lifestyle. We teach them that keeping their screen time down to under two hours per day and engaging in at least sixty minutes of physical activity every day will give them healthier bodies. We need volunteers to spend time delivering our character, nutrition our social emotional curriculum which we created.
