About our Organization

Our Stories Project is a collaborative initiative that connects college students with individuals in mental health recovery to build understanding and reduce stigma. By pairing students with members of Clubhouses—supportive communities for those living with serious mental illness—we create a space for authentic connections and shared storytelling. Each partnership works together to capture personal narratives through memoirs, photography, poetry, and other creative media, celebrating each individual’s journey. Our mission is to foster empathy, empower voices, and inspire a community where mental health stories are met with respect and solidarity. See the link below to view the book from 2023!

How our organization engages UC students

The Our Stories Project engages University of Cincinnati students in meaningful partnerships with Queen City Clubhouse members. Each student is paired with a member and meets weekly to build relationships, fostering empathy and understanding. Through these connections, students help create memoirs, photos, poetry, and other creative expressions that celebrate each member’s unique story. By sharing and documenting these experiences, students break down stigmas surrounding mental illness and become active advocates for mental health. The project culminates in a published collection that highlights these personal journeys and serves as a powerful resource for the broader community.
