Food Insecurity
The System to Achieve Food Equity (SAFE) is a sub-network of the All Children Thrive Learning Network at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital. SAFE is made up of over 150 individuals and organizations committed to improving food security in Cincinnati to ensure that all children have the food that they need to grow, develop, learn, and thrive. The SAFE Network includes emergency food organizations, healthcare, education, and government institutions, data scientists and families in the Cincinnati area. The core strategies of this network are: creating a network around a shared outcome, ensuring data is available publicly and promoting neighborhood level organizing and change. SAFE convenes regular gatherings with food and community partners throughout the Greater Cincinnati area to share ongoing food interventions and learnings and promote relationship building and resource sharing across the network.
The SAFE Network is comprised of over 100 organizations in the greater Cincinnati area who are focused on addressing food insecurity in the community. Organizations share volunteer opportunities as they become available, and we would love to extend these opportunities to the students at the University of Cincinnati! Volunteer opportunities may range from volunteering to help cook or create food boxes, participating at educational events for the community, or helping to distribute food at various events.
