The Rec2Connect Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization serving special needs individuals and their families in the Greater Cleveland community. We have identified a need for affordable, accessible and properly planned recreational programming for this population, and as such, our mission is to enhance and enrich the lives of individuals with special needs and their families through recreation, sport and leisure activities. More specifically, Rec2Connect Foundation provides no- or low-cost recreation and social opportunities for families of special needs individuals. In addition, the foundation offers scholarships to assist in paying for recreational programming for individuals with special needs. There are 2 other aspects of our organization that we are very proud of and that are important to highlight. Firstly, Rec2Connect Foundation serves any individual with special needs. The term “special needs” as defined by the Rec2Connect Foundation is intentionally broad. Some children are not diagnosed or if they are, they do not fit into a category that will enable them to access services. Non-labeled children have virtually no sources of funding for therapy and have a particularly difficult time finding suitable summer camps and /or recreational activities in which to participate. The Rec2Connect Foundation seeks to provide services to any who can benefit. Specifically, the Rec2Connect Foundation is open to any individual with special needs, regardless of diagnosis or lack of one. Secondly, we provide access to affordable and therapeutic recreational opportunities not only for individuals with special needs, but also their families.
