Success at school helps children develop a sense of self-esteem, normalcy, and personal responsibility. At The Center for School Services (main campus) you will be working with our licensed educators and the hospital staff to provide our patients with help on their schoolwork while they are going through treatment in the hospital. You will be working with kids of all ages and education levels, as well as interacting with their families and loved ones. You will experience students functioning at various cognitive levels ranging from high achieving to nonverbal and TBI patients. Volunteering at the hospital provides tutors an inside look at the collaborative environment between medical professionals, multidisciplinary providers, patients and families. This exposure might lead to new interest or provide insight on a career path as well as provide excellent talking points for future interviews.
