About our Organization

The St. Leo the Great Food Pantry is dedicated to serving families in the North Fairmount, English Woods, Roll Hill, and Millville neighborhoods, providing assistance to over 1000 people each month.  Our community is designated as a food desert by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Economic Research Service, which means it is a low-income census tract where a significant number or percentage of residents have limited access to a supermarket or large grocery store. Additionally, many of our customers lack transportation, which further compounds their access to healthy food options.

For over 37 years, the St. Leo Food Pantry has been providing food assistance to families in need in our community as a 100% volunteer-run Choice Food Pantry. We are organized like a grocery system; guests can walk through and choose items based on their family size. Everything is color-coded by size, so it is easy for our guests and their shopping escort.

How our organization engages UC students

Our efforts rely heavily on the support of volunteers, donations, and sponsors including a Monthly Overhead Sponsor, which consists of individuals or businesses that support us.

Our volunteers keep our shelves stocked and our doors open. That's why I would like to invite you to volunteer alone or with a small group of up to 5 people at our Choice Pantry to get the full experience. Volunteers are needed on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. Tasks include sorting and organizing donations, stocking shelves, and assisting clients as they select their food items – all in service to making a difference in the lives of the less fortunate.
