Remake Project

Our Why: 

We exist to create community based sustainable solutions.

Our name: It is a play on reduce, reuse, recycle. Rethink + Reuse = Remake. Our project is broader than reusing materials. It is about “rethinking” through the world around us. We exist to create community based solutions and “re-think” and “reuse” are a part of our ethos as an organization.

What we Do: The Remake Project is a design collaborative focused on rethinking the world around us.

 A Current Project

Creative Reuse Collective - We are supporting the Creative Reuse Network by  empowering makers and supporting the network of creative reuse centers. We do this through promoting uses for discarded materials and publishing best practices. Recently this has looked like hosting workshops at our local museum's makerspace and then turning those into a framework any creative reuse professional can use. We help solve problems of material accessibility. Many materials focused sustainability initiatives exist, but they all place the burden on material cost on the maker itself. We are removing that burden by focusing on placing the materials in the most creative hands and finding social good projects that they can be used for. Our approach is to combine design and supply chain to create the best solutions for all.

We work with students on their projects. Whether it is helping them brainstorm solutions around tough design questions or connecting them deeper into the community, we are excited to continue to partner with UC students!
