The event is called "Jazz and Story: Celebrating the Edgemont Inn Tavern" and includes storytelling, live music featuring the sounds of the 1940s with classic jazz, swing, and blues, and Black History

· Getting folding chairs from basement and setting up in specified areas

· Parking lot management. Directing people to parking locations.

iSPACE’s exhibitor partners include local STEM-based businesses such as Ethicon, GE Aviation, Altafiber and Ford, plus other organizations such as the University of Cincinnati, Haile Planetarium, Cincinnati Public Library and Spaceman Bob.  They will feature demonstrations on amazing advancements in STEM. It's an inspiring way to spend a Saturday!

We are looking for volunteers to assist with taking "professional-quality" photos of the event.   We would like to showcase these higher res photos on our website, social media and an upcoming donor development initiatives.

CancerFree KIDS Celebration of Courage is a dinner/auction followed by an outdoor concert. We need people to run the games outside, help with the auction redemption center and pack the truck to get us out of the venue. 

For Turner Scholars Only: 

Volunteers are needed to help stain the fence around the ARCO community events venue in East Price Hill! The job is simple: when you arrive, you will be tasked with a section of fence to paint with brushes and rollers. This work is largely independent, so feel free to bring headphones to listen to music or a podcast while you work. Volunteers can sign up for one or multiple shifts.

When you arrive, come to the west entrance of ARCO (3301 Price Ave), which is located off the large parking lot. For any questions about this opportunity, please email clare@pricehillwill.org.

Be an actor in UCPD's yearly Active Threat/Active Shooter training!

Each year, our officers go through classroom and scenario training in the most critical of situations that they may encounter: an Active Shooter/Active Threat. In order to make the scenarios more realistic and beneficial, we need volunteer "actors" who interact with our officers when they go through the scenarios. No volunteer will be the "bad guy" and protective equipment is provided; however, fake ammunition is used that is similar to airsoft rounds. Our actors in the past have had a great time, but also really enjoyed learning and being a part of what our officers go through to be best prepared for the University community.

Lunch will be provided and feel free to contact Officer Greg Valerius with any questions (513-556-0908).

CLEAN UP CINCY NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN UP: FALL 2025

Our neighborhood clean-ups are Clean Up Cincy's largest events each semester!

Student volunteers meet at Bearcat Commons between 9-9:30 AM and are provided busing to and from neighborhood sites to help with litter cleanup, mulching/yard work, and other projects in neighborhoods around Cincinnati. We connect UC volunteers with neighborhood leaders, Cincy Parks, Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, and other organizations dedicated to serving the community and providing help where it is most needed.

Join us this Spring to help make a difference in the community and keep our city beautiful!

Volunteers are certified for 3 off-campus service hours, which count towards UC scholarship requirements.

IF YOU WANT TO SIGN UP AS A TEAM/ORGANIZATION, please add what group/people/organization you want to be placed with in the "notes" section of the signup!

We are hosting a community carnival on October 25.  We need help running our games and/or food booths. When you arrive we will let you know where we will need you!  I am hoping to let you know your role a day or 2 before the event just so you know! We appreciate all the volunteers we can get to help make this a success.  When you arrive you should park in the lot off of Considine.  There is also street parking.  We have 3 shifts available but am adding an additional shift to help with set up.  We will also have a volunteer table where you can check in.  Students will buy tickets so no cash exchange at the games but could be at the food/snack booths.

As of now (weather permitting) this is an outdoor event so dress for the weather.  Wear comfortable shoes/clothes.   

OXE chemical engineering honors society and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers will be hosting a bake sale to raise integral organization funds. We will need help tabling the event as well as providing baked goods. Drop off the baked goods in Mantei 605 either in the fridge or on the table next to the fridge Monday-Tuesday, 7am-7pm or on Wednesday from 7am-10am. Tabling the event will be from 11am-3pm Wednesday, September 17th. There will be a sign in sheet when you drop off your baked goods. When you sign up online, please indicate if you will be tabling or donating and how much you donated/which hours you are available to table. For every dozen of a baked good donated, one service hour will be awarded. If you are able to help set up tabling, meet at Mantei 605 at 10:50am. 

Our Champions for Children Gala is our largest fundraiser of the year! It's a night where we honor four local champions who have helped to make children's lives better. Without volunteers, this night wouldn't be possible.

Your role would be to arrive at 5:15pm on October 25th at the brand new immersive event space, The Mercantile Immersive. You will help greet and register guests then enjoy a plated meal and our program where we will be honoring our champions. After the program will be our after-party where we will need volunteers to run the games and interact with our guests. The whole evening will end around 10:30pm/11:00pm and then we will clean up and leave. 

This isn't your regular volunteer opportunity as you will get a chance to dress up and enjoy a very fun gala!

Are you a healthcare student or someone passionate about making a direct impact on the well-being of others?  Join our Foot Care for the Souls program and help care for the most vulnerable in Greater Cincinnati. This unique program provides essential foot care, including cleaning, foot massages and distributing new socks and shoes, to individuals experiencing homelessness and marginalization - people who often spend long hours on their feet.

Why Volunteer?  As a volunteer, you'll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a healthcare setting while building personal connections with those who need special care. Foot health is critical for those facing housing insecurity, and your work will make a significant difference in their daily lives.

What You'll Do: 

Training and Support: You don't need prior medical experience - comprehensive training will be provided during your first sessions, ensuring you're comfortable and confident before caring for clients independently. An experienced nurse practitioner oversees the program and is available for support and additional guidance.

Happy "Be a Good Neighbor" Week!

   In honor of Be a Good Neighbor week, the Commuter & Community Action Team is looking for volunteer to help with making and packaging both peanut butter & jelly and turkey sandwiches for donation to a Cincinnati food pantry organization—Our Daily Bread.

   Being a good neighbor includes using any privileges we have to benefit others in our community. Participate in Be a Good Neighbor week by joining us in improving the food accessibility and health of our Cincinnati neighbors.

How to prepare:

** NOTE: We will be handling the following ingredients: peanut butter, grape jelly, bread, and turkey. Please be cautious of any potential allergens. **

   The Bearcat experience is woven into the city of Cincinnati. Many UC students work, live, and engage in the neighborhoods surrounding our campus. In the true Bearcat spirit, our community matters to us. We're good neighbors—taking the following steps to create a positive living environment for ourselves and those next door.

1. Get to know your neighbors: introduce yourself! Check-in with your neighbors when you see them. It would also be helpful to exchange contact information so you can reach out to each other when needed.

2. Lower the volume: Let your neighbors know if you are planning a party. Encourage them to reach out if it gets too loud or disruptive. 

3. Clean up: Keep your yard free of litter. Take your trash out on collection day and bring up the empty bin as soon as you can. This keeps the sidewalks clear, safe, and sanitary. Items that don't fit in your trash bin should be scheduled for bulk pick-up through Cincinnati's free trash collection app: 311 Cincy.

4. Help your neighbors: Build positive relationships with neighbors by lending a hand. Offer to help with shoveling snow, yard work, and other things when they seem applicable!

5. Know the expectations: Review the Student Code of Conduct to better understand how off-campus violations can impact your student status. Also, become familiar with city ordinances to ensure you do not receive  fines or violate the law.

Team IMPACT is a national nonprofit that connects children facing illness or disability with local college athletic teams, forming lifelong bonds and life-changing outcomes. Come together for to fundraise for this nonprofit! We will be walking 5 laps around Nippert concourse! Clean Up Cincy is asking for volunteers to help clean up Camp Washington. This event is run by the neighborhood and they would love to have some of our loyal volunteers! CLEAN UP CINCY CLIFTON CLEANUP: FALL 2025

Clean Up Cincy's Clifton walking events engage students with our CUF community: UC's home.

Student volunteers meet at Bearcats Commons (in front of Arts and Sciences Hall) between 9-9:30 AM and are provided supplies (gloves, trash bags, etc.) to pick up litter in streets surrounding campus. Crews walk through our community to clean up trash while exec members pick up filled bags to be disposed of in dedicated dumpsters. 

Join us this Fall to help make a difference in the community and keep the streets many of us live in beautiful and clean! Breakfast and coffee will be supplied to volunteers!!

Volunteers are certified for 3 off-campus service hours, which count towards UC scholarship requirements.

Do you enjoy research and want to make a real difference in your community right from home? Join us as a Volunteer Researcher for Ways to Connect, a national crowdsourced directory of volunteer platforms.

Many people want to volunteer but struggle to find the right entry points—especially in smaller towns or underserved areas. At the same time, local volunteer centers and grassroots groups often go unnoticed due to low visibility. Ways to Connect bridges this gap by helping people discover the best local websites, service clubs, and networks already in place.

As a Volunteer Researcher, your work will directly improve the visibility of these resources, making it easier for neighbors to find meaningful ways to give back.

The Norwood View Elementary PTO is hosting a Fall Festival. Norwood View is a small, Title 1 school with about 300 students Pre-K- 5. The PTO is hoping to encourage community engagement with a fun, affordable, family activity close to home. We are in need of volunteers to help run games, manage small concessions, or supervise the 2 inflatables we have rented. Volunteers would also help in setting up and tearing down the activities.

When you arrive to 2728 Short Vine St., you will check-in and grab a provided trash grabber and either a bucket or a trash bag to collect any trash found. After you check-in, you will need to watch a safety video made by UCPD police officers. You will not be permitted to volunteer until after you watch the safety video. 

Choose any area in the surrounding community to get started! You can clean up near the check-in site in Corryville—or you can make your way to a place a little further away. This option could be useful if you want to clean-up the pathway that you usually take to class, or if you'd like to clean somewhere where you typically spend a lot of time.

Make sure to arrive with enough time to finish the clean up! We suggest giving yourself two hours—at least—to check-in, clean, and check-out. All supplies will need to be checked back in to 2728 Short Vine St. at 5:50pm. The opportunity ends at 6pm, but to allow time for check-out, please arrive at 5:50pm. The opportunity starts at 1pm, but feel free to arrive any time before 4pm. You will most likely get turned away if you arrive after 4pm because there will not be enough time to complete the clean up in that timeframe.

What is The Great Banquet?

In Scripture, Jesus tells us not to throw a banquet for the wealthy or those who can repay us—but instead to invite those on the margins, those who may never be able to return the favor. “You will be blessed,” He says, “although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” (Luke 14:14)

This is The Great Banquet.

It’s a red-carpet celebration for teens and adults with special needs—a night to honor those who are too often overlooked. Our guests are welcomed with cheers, served an elegant dinner, celebrated with awards, and invited to dance the night away in a room full of joy and belonging. Everything is offered free of charge, thanks to the generosity of our community.

Our goal is simple but profound: to break down barriers, bring awareness, and show the love of Christ in a way that every guest can feel and understand.

Whether you’re an honored guest, a volunteer, or a sponsor—there is a place for you at the table.

We are looking for 10 friendly, professional and community minded students to assist in a Customer Service capacity at our signature fundraising gala: Party In The House.

Hosted in conjunction with leaders of the Cincinnati Interior Design community, this event combines creativity, compassion, philanthropy and fun!

Your duties will include welcoming our guests, handing out programs, providing directions for various experiences within the venue and more.

There will be a brief orientation about New Life Furniture Bank and an overview of the evening's itinerary at 5:00PM, with your duties winding down at about 8:00-8:30PM. (You will be credited 4 volunteer service hours.)

Dress code: we ask that you wear all black; a volunteer designation badge/name tag will be provided upon check in. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.

This is a monthly cookout held in Imagination Alley- a pocket park on Vine St. in OTR. Volunteers will be needed to serve food and help with event logistics. We will provide a validation for free parking in the Mercer Garage, across the street from the event.

The Family & Community Outreach Intern will play a key role in strengthening GiGi’s Playhouse Cincinnati’s connections with families, volunteers, and the broader community. This position is ideal for students who are passionate about inclusion, advocacy, and nonprofit work. Interns will gain valuable hands-on experience in community engagement, event planning, and nonprofit program delivery while directly supporting individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

Assist with planning, organizing, and facilitating community engagement events and outreach programs.

Conduct outreach efforts to build relationships with families, local organizations, and community partners.

Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of Playhouse Ambassadors (adult self-advocates representing GiGi’s in the community).

Serve as a voice and representative of the Playhouse at outreach events and community engagements.

Perform light office/clerical work as needed.

Must be able to commit to the full duration of the internship. (October 2025-July 2026)

We are continuing our brand new role playing game. Our group of 6-10 participants play Call of Cthulhu on a semi-monthly basis.  Call of Cthulhu is an interactive role playing game similar to Dungeons and Dragons.   No previous experience is required, but bring your imagination as we breathe life into fictional characters living in this early 20th century world.

We are welcoming new players who have either played Dungeons and Dragons before, or are committed to learning with us, AND participating in all sessions this semester. 

Due to the creative, interactive and on-going nature of role-playing, (sessions build upon each other) it is recommended that volunteers do NOT sign up if they plan to attend only one time.  

Volunteers will play alongside and facilitate play with adults with cognitive and physical disabilities.

To help you, and our participants to get the most of the experience, volunteers are asked to read our volunteer handout prior to attending an event.

Marjorie Book Continuing Education seeks volunteers to participate in and learn alongside adults and teens with disabilities.  Volunteers can be paired with an individual with a disability to help facilitate their participation in the class.

This workshop is a follow up to our ongoing Creative Writing and Local Poets classes.  We will spend about 2 hours developing your pieces of writing that you have already begun in class or at home.  This is a great way to put pen to paper or finger to keyboard and revise and enhance a story that you have started previously in our workshops.  After having finished memoir writing, we are slowly working on developing our second piece of writing, which is focused on worldbuiding.  Anyone is welcome – just know that this is primarily a workshop to get writing time (and not a class on writing).

Volunteers will help provide accommodations (including scribing, spelling, following the steps of the writing process as instructed by the instructor, facilitating brainstorming of options, etc) to individuals with disabilities.    

To help you, and our participants to get the most of the experience, volunteers are asked to read our volunteer handout prior to attending an event.

Join us for the final harvest of the season at UC Clermont Community Garden the morning of October 10, 2025!  Volunteers will harvest remaining crops and prepare vegetable beds and pollinator garden for fall and winter dormancy.  Bring your favorite pair of tree limb loppers for an invasive honeysuckle bushwhacking party following the garden harvest. We will have a wood chipper on site to aid in forest understory clearing and planting of native prairie grasses and coneflowers.

Monday, September 15th, 2025 - Friday, September 19th, 2025, will be the dates for the next UC ALL CAMPUS BLOOD DRIVE!  The blood drive runs from 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday-Thursday and 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM on Friday and will be in donor buses parked in front of the Tangeman University Center (TUC).  This activity will be mostly outside in front of TUC, so plan to dress appropriately for the weather daily.

Hoxworth Blood Center will need some assistance from volunteers to work with Hoxworth staff in order to; welcome donors, helping to direct donors into each bus, signing up donors for blood drive appointments, assisting donors with basic questions, assisting donors with drinks/give-a-way items, monitoring donors for any donation reactions and generally making sure the blood drive runs well.  

We have space for up to two (2) volunteers to participate for a four (4) hour time frame on two different shifts each day.  Monday through Thursday we will have and early shift (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM) and a late shift (1:00 PM - 5:00 PM). On Friday we will have three and a half hour shifts (3.5) with an early shift (8:30 AM - 12:00 PM) and late shift (12:00 PM - 3:30 PM).  We know this is a long commitment for a day but also are limiting the amount of volunteer participants.  We will contact waitlist volunteers if an opening becomes available.

Hoxworth Blood Center Staff will be on-site to help any of the volunteers that are able to give their time to assist.  Please email Jamie Glahn (james.glahn@uc.edu) regarding volunteering and Bobby Boettcher (boettcra@ucmail.uc.edu) regarding questions about the blood drive.

We rely heavily on UC volunteers participating in the blood drive to help make sure other Bearcats have a great experience at the blood drive events.  Your assistance is needed and very appreciated. This counts as an off-site activity, even though it is on-campus.

Tear-down (off campus) [5:00 pm] - Meet at the pop-up location on main street, we will drive off campus to unload the clothes then drive back.

Please report to the House Manager in the inner lobby of the Performance Hall where you’re assigned. You’ll receive instructions and an overview of the evening at that time. Please note that posted end times may vary—the House Manager will provide an updated run time during check-in. 

Help build a small fence and move dirt/mulch to prepare a new native planting site. This site will have host plants for both adult butterflies and their caterpillar babies. Planting will be done Spring 2026, but we need a garden prepared this Fall. Address: 251 McGregor Ave. 45219

Stationery Collection and Drive

Donate at least two different types of stationery to receive two hours of volunteer credit. All donations will be given to school students!

Looking for volunteers to work with the BYOC team to promote events, share info and sell tickets.  Also provide staffing help during the events.  There are 3 events upcoming during 2025 - Sept 12, Nov 6 and Dec 13.

Join us for a special Veterans Card Making Event on Monday, October 27, 2025, in TUC 419.

This event is an opportunity to show gratitude and appreciation to our veterans through the power of thoughtful words and creativity. Participants are encouraged to bring homemade cards crafted with care, including a warm message of thanks and support inside. Cards should be of good quality to ensure they can be shared proudly with veterans who have served our country.

Your handmade cards will brighten the day of those who have given so much, reminding them that their sacrifices are recognized and appreciated.

Help support our fellow Bearcats by contributing to the Bearcat Pantry Donation Drive! The drive will provide essential items to students in need and help strengthen our campus community.

Join the spooky fun and earn service hours at Haunted Village—our biggest fundraiser of the year! We need 65+ volunteers each night to help bring the Village to life with creepy characters, candy, and crowd control.

Roles Available: games, admissions, concessions, gatekeeper/candy distributer, character roles such as witches, ghosts, haunted trail characters, balloon twisters (training provided), and more!

Saturday Hoops is a free group mentoring program of Cincinnati Youth Collaborative that strives to make a safe space for kids (ages 3-18) on Saturdays for them to learn new things, meet new friends, and develop skills that will help them become future leaders. We create this opportunity by providing food (breakfast and lunch) and doing activities such as basketball, soccer, arts and crafts, reading, yoga, football, workouts, and so much more. We also establish this safe space by having our volunteers promote a positive environment and demonstrating our core themes to students (Cheerful Giver, Hard Worker, Overcomer, and Good Steward). Join us in connecting with kids every Saturday from 9:30 am to 12:30 at one of our locations (Avondale, West End, Winton Hills, and at Zielger Park during the Summer).
