Volunteer: Patient Navigation InternshipThe Patient Navigation Internship Program provides a unique opportunity for interns to work with patients and gain valuable insights to potential health care barriers and help patients navigate the healthcare system. Interns assist patients as referral specialists helping assisting patients with barriers getting to specialist and diagnostic testing. Interns aim to make the referral process/experiences for patients as manageable and accessible as possible. Interns work closely with HealthSource of Ohio’s clinical site team members including care coordinators to learn about available resources and ensure patients have access to their healthcare needs. Through shadowing opportunities available for interns at HealthSource of Ohio’s designated clinical site, interns gain a better understanding of a clinician’s roles and responsibilities, the framework behind a patient-clinician relationship, observe the process behind treatment plans, and ultimately see medicine in its reality. Time spent in this internship program is invaluable, as interns not only gain a first person view of primary care, but make connections, and build on their health care experience. We request intern commits 150 hours to ensure an impactful and meaningful experience. We are very flexible with hours and days to make your schedule work around school schedule. Complete Civic Influencers Final Report.
Organization: Civic Influencers, Inc. Civic Influencers is a nonpartisan, nonprofit that activates young people’s civic power through organizing, learning, and advocacy. We use real-time data to draw attention to democracy power outages on campuses and in communities, and train young people to fight for youth voting rights and the policies they care about. We design youth-centered, data-driven civic action projects that remove barriers to voting and push decision makers to give young people a seat at the table. The Civic Influencers’ CredoI am concerned about issues that impact my people, community, and land. I am concerned about the state of democracy and want to be part of a national movement that is not afraid to stand up for our youth voting rights and lift up our voices. I want to grow and learn. I want to change the systems that have intentionally left people out of the democratic process. I am dedicated to putting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the forefront of my work. I understand that the time to act is now. Responsibilities: Participate in our National Civic Influencers Orientation. Support Civic Influencers through video testimonials and stories about why civic engagement is important. Participate in monthly state-specific trainings, a national Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training and other trainings as determined. Support Civic Influencers by participating in Civic Influencers Action Days either by signal boosting or creating unique engagements for your community or campus. Create a Civic Influencers Action Plan in conjunction with your Statewide Organizer(s) for how you will organize in your community and on campus, which includes the following: A minimum of three (3) activities to strengthen and protect youth voting rights; A systemic change project; A data-driven survey project that reports on current youth voting barriers and other democracy issues either in your community or on campus; A record of your activities in the Civic Influencers internal Activity Tracker; and Complete Tableau’s Data Literacy for All eLearning track composed of 7 modules (~5 hours of training) completed at your own pace (this completes the Bronze-level training). Schedule and consistently meet with your assigned State Organizer(s) via biweekly check-ins to troubleshoot your Civic Influencers Action Plan and receive additional support. Collaborate and partner with other Civic Influencers locally and/or nationwide, community partners, on-campus student organizations, administrators, and faculty members to complete aforementioned activities and at least one (1) systemic change project. Volunteer: Dungeons and Dragons - Assistant DMsThe Cincinnati Ethics Center works with several Cincinnati Public Libraries to provide a Dungeons and Dragons experience as an afterschool program. Each table requires a Dungeon Master (DM) to guide players through the fantasy world we've created and guide them through the challenges and adventures they embark on. We are looking for UC students who are interested in engaging with students by DMing the adventures we have created. These adventures are also designed to get players to grapple with ethical dilemmas in the game. Should the party chase the dragon and retrieve the magical weapon he stole or should they stay and put out the fire that could burn down the entire village? We visit several libraries once a week and we bring a team of DMs with us. To participate in the visits to one of those libraries, the time commitment would be 4 hours/week for about 10 weeks. Familiarity with tabletop roleplaying games in encouraged. A conversation guide, including questions and prompts, will be provided to students during program training. All phone sessions will be conducted through achi’s contact center system and students will login to the contact center system to perform their sessions, providing a secure and consistent connection method for every call. All calls will be recorded for quality assurance.
