Volunteer: Theater Help: Lillian Hellman's Watch on the Rhine

Marjorie Book has been producing full length theatrical productions since 1993 with inclusive casts represented by a variety of abilities and disabilities and represented by various age groups from ages 12 – 86.  This summer, we will produce a full length play.   We also can use volunteers to help with clerical tasks and to help actors run lines on any particular night of rehearsals. We would welcome volunteers for one night or for many evenings.  At certain points, we can use volunteer help in moving supplies from our storage space in Over the Rhine to locations in Clifton.  We do not hold auditions, although we do engage in some staged readings during the first rehearsal and then cast parts.  Please let us know if you are interested in being involved.  All are welcome, and it is not necessary to be an accomplished reader (or even a reader) to participate in the play.

Watch on the Rhine is a 1941 play by Lillian Hellman about a German anti-fascist, Kurt Muller, who seeks refuge with his American wife's family in Washington D.C. as WWII looms, but his past catches up with him through a Nazi-sympathizing houseguest, forcing a confrontation with fascism and moral duty.

To help you, and our participants to get the most of the experience, volunteers are asked to read our volunteer handout prior to attending an event.

We are always looking for actors, with and without prior experience, to join the cast.  Most actors are able to make 80 percent of the rehearsals, but almost all of the actors miss some rehearsals. If you are interested in acting, please come to the first rehearsal, or contact us at: 513-328-6300.

Volunteer: Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati - iCan Bike Camp 2026

Volunteer Opportunities working with individuals with Down syndrome.  Our iCan Bike Camp will be held July 6-10, 2026 at Harrison High School in Cincinnati.  iCan Bike Camp uses adapted bicycles, a specialized instructional program and trained staff to enable individuals with disabilities to learn to ride a two-wheel bicycle. Riders attend one 75 minute session each day for five consecutive days where they learn to ride while accompanied and encouraged by volunteer “spotters”. Over the course of the week, we continually adjust the bikes in an effort to challenge riders balance as they gradually discover the skill and joy of riding.

Volunteer: Halloween Costume Drive (gently-used) - earn 1 hr for every 10 costumes donated

Each October we host 3 FREE Halloween Costume Giveaway Events for local families in need. We giveaway hundreds of kid/teen costumes each year and we are always collecting additional new and gently-used Halloween costumes and accessories.

Host your own Halloween costume drive and earn 1 service hour for every 10 costumes you collect (kids/adults). Our donors usually bring us garbage bags full of costumes so this is a pretty easy service project that you can do on your own time and contact us for delivery to our storage unit in Harrison, OH (19 miles from UC campus).

Once you deliver your costumes and they are counted, we will automatically approve your service hours.
