Volunteer: BioBlitz at Bull's Run Arboretum

Head out with your camera and take photos of the plants and animals you see within Bull's Run. We are using the free iNaturalist app to gather data on the various species of plants and animals living at Bull's Run. All you need is your phone and the app.

How: Take close up pictures and it will directly input them into our project (location needs to be turned on). The newest release of iNaturalist makes suggestions for the species you are submitting.

Why: We use the data you collect to figure out if there are critters or plants living there that need extra protection, or if there are invasives that we need to work on clearing out.

When: Our BioBlitz runs all September and October. You can visit the arboretum anytime from dawn til dusk. Spend 5 minutes or 5 hours, this is totally up to you.

See the results: You can visit the project to see other peoples submissions at https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/fall-2025-bull-s-run-arboretum-bioblitz

Get the app or use a traditional camera: You will need to either download iNaturalist to your phone and have location turned on. Or, if you use a traditional camera you can submit online. Both the app link and the online submissions can be found at https://www.inaturalist.org/

Parking and Map: Free onsite parking and a trail map is located at the entrance.

Volunteer: Grab and Go Individual Community Clean-Up

Grab a few friends and join us in cleaning the community!

When you arrive to 2728 Short Vine St., you will check-in, grab a provided trash grabber, and either a bucket or a trash bag to collect any trash found. After you check-in, you will need to watch a safety video made by UCPD police officers. You will not be permitted to volunteer until after you watch the safety video.

Choose any area in the surrounding community to get started! You can clean up near the check-in site in Corryville—or you can make your way to a place that may be a little further away. This option could be useful if you want to clean up the pathways that you usually take to class, or if you'd like to clean somewhere where you typically spend a lot of time

Make sure to arrive with enough time to finish the clean-up! We suggest giving yourself one hour—at least—to check-in, clean, and check-out. All supplies will need to be checked back in to 2728 Short Vine St. at 12:50pm. The opportunity ends at 1pm, but to allow for check-out time, please arrive at or before 12:50pm. The opportunity starts at 10:30am, but feel free to arrive any time before 12:00pm. You will most likely get turned away if you arrive after 12:00pm because there will not be enough time to complete the clean up in that timeframe.

How are my volunteer hours determined?

One full bucket (buckets MUST be filled to the rim of the bucket for one half hour)1/2 of a volunteer hour
One full trash bag (trash bags MUST be filled to the top. If another bucket can be added to the trash bag, it is not full)3 volunteer hours

** If you do not completely fill your bucket/bag, the hours awarded for your service will be decided by the event organizer. **

Since the event is 2.5 hours long, 2.5 hours is displayed below. Volunteer hours only follow the guidelines outlined above.

If you're participating with a group, the total trash collected will be divided amongst the total number of group members.

Preparing for your Community Clean-Up

Volunteer: UCPD Police Officer Active Threat Training

Be an actor in UCPD's yearly Active Threat/Active Shooter training!

Each year, our officers go through classroom and scenario training in the most critical of situations that they may encounter: an Active Shooter/Active Threat. In order to make the scenarios more realistic and beneficial, we need volunteer "actors" who interact with our officers when they go through the scenarios. No volunteer will be the "bad guy" and protective equipment is provided; however, fake ammunition is used that is similar to airsoft rounds. Our actors in the past have had a great time, but also really enjoyed learning and being a part of what our officers go through to be best prepared for the University community.

Lunch will be provided and feel free to contact Officer Greg Valerius with any questions (513-556-0908).

Volunteer: Virtual Opportunity: Volunteer Researcher - Strengthen Local Volunteer Connections

Do you enjoy research and want to make a real difference in your community right from home? Join us as a Volunteer Researcher for Ways to Connect, a national crowdsourced directory of volunteer platforms.

Many people want to volunteer but struggle to find the right entry points—especially in smaller towns or underserved areas. At the same time, local volunteer centers and grassroots groups often go unnoticed due to low visibility. Ways to Connect bridges this gap by helping people discover the best local websites, service clubs, and networks already in place.

As a Volunteer Researcher, your work will directly improve the visibility of these resources, making it easier for neighbors to find meaningful ways to give back.

What You’ll Do:

Conduct simple online research to identify local volunteer platforms, service clubs, mutual aid groups, and upcoming events for communities around the country.

Update and enrich your community’s page on Ways to Connect, ensuring content is accurate, current, and inviting.

Why Volunteer with Inspiring Service?

Flexibility: Volunteer anytime, anywhere—it’s fully remote.

Small time commitment: Contribute as little as 2 hours, or as much as you’d like.

Immediate impact: Your research helps neighbors discover real ways to serve their community.

Skill-building: Strengthen online research, critical thinking, and content creation skills.

Growth opportunities: Explore deeper involvement through our Ambassador Program.

Recognition: See your contributions go live on a national platform, with the option to be credited on our Contributors page.

Volunteer: Grab and Go Individual Community Clean-Up

Grab a few friends and join us in cleaning our community!

When you arrive to 2728 Short Vine St., you will check-in, grab a provided trash grabber, and either a bucket or a trash bag to collect any trash found. After you check-in, you will need to watch a safety video made by UCPD police officers. You will not be permitted to volunteer until after you watch the safety video

Choose any area in the surrounding community to get started! You can clean up near the check-in site in Corryville—or you can make your way to a place a little further away. This option could be useful if you want to clean-up the pathway that you usually take to class, or if you'd like to clean somewhere where you typically spend a lot of time.

Make sure to arrive with enough time to finish the clean up! We suggest giving yourself one hour—at least—to check-in, clean, and check-out. All supplies will need to be checked back in to 2728 Short Vine St. at 5:50pm. The opportunity ends at 6:00pm, but to allow time for check-out, please arrive at 5:50pm. The opportunity starts at 1:00pm, but feel free to arrive any time before 5:00pm. You will most likely get turned away if you arrive after 5:00pm because there will not be enough time to complete the clean up in that timeframe.

How are my volunteer hours determined?

One full bucket (buckets MUST be filled to the rim of the bucket for one half hour)1/2 of a volunteer hour
One full trash bag (trash bag MUST be filled to the top—if a full bucket can still get added to the trash bag, it is not full)3 volunteer hours

** If you do not completely fill your bucket/bag, the hours awarded for

your service will be decided by the event organizer.**

Since the event is 5 hours long, 5 hours is displayed below. Volunteer hours only follow the guidelines outlined above.

If you're participating with a group, the total trash collected will be divided amongst the total number of group members.

Preparing for your Community Clean-Up:

Come prepared!

Make sure you're hydrated appropriately prior to your volunteer dateLook at the weather radar to ensure you will be comfortable in your clothing optionIf the opportunity gets cancelled or delayed due to weather issues, the site supervisor will send out a notification via emailIf lightning strikes, please find the nearest sheltered location inside a building or vehicle with the rest of your group

Volunteer: The Great Banquet 2025

What is The Great Banquet?

In Scripture, Jesus tells us not to throw a banquet for the wealthy or those who can repay us—but instead to invite those on the margins, those who may never be able to return the favor. “You will be blessed,” He says, “although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” (Luke 14:14)

This is The Great Banquet.

It’s a red-carpet celebration for teens and adults with special needs—a night to honor those who are too often overlooked. Our guests are welcomed with cheers, served an elegant dinner, celebrated with awards, and invited to dance the night away in a room full of joy and belonging. Everything is offered free of charge, thanks to the generosity of our community.

Our goal is simple but profound: to break down barriers, bring awareness, and show the love of Christ in a way that every guest can feel and understand.

Whether you’re an honored guest, a volunteer, or a sponsor—there is a place for you at the table.

Volunteer: Table Top Role-Playing: Call of Cthulhu

We are continuing our brand new role playing game. Our group of 6-10 participants play Call of Cthulhu on a semi-monthly basis.  Call of Cthulhu is an interactive role playing game similar to Dungeons and Dragons.   No previous experience is required, but bring your imagination as we breathe life into fictional characters living in this early 20th century world.

We are welcoming new players who have either played Dungeons and Dragons before, or are committed to learning with us, AND participating in all sessions this semester.

Due to the creative, interactive and on-going nature of role-playing, (sessions build upon each other) it is recommended that volunteers do NOT sign up if they plan to attend only one time.

Volunteers will play alongside and facilitate play with adults with cognitive and physical disabilities.

To help you, and our participants to get the most of the experience, volunteers are asked to read our volunteer handout prior to attending an event.

We are seeking enthusiastic and professional ushers for CCM Prep Ballet - PCT!

Call Time: 1:00pm
Time Commitment:
Approximately four hours

As an usher, you’ll play a key role in creating a welcoming experience for audience members—while also getting the chance to support and enjoy live performance at CCM! This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved behind the scenes and engage with the CCM performance community.

Dress Code:

To maintain a polished and professional atmosphere, please follow these dress guidelines:

Business casual or standard concert black attire is appropriate. Footwear should be comfortable for standing long periods—no high heels or overly casual shoes. Not permitted: blue jeans (black jeans are acceptable), sneakers, t-shirts, or athleisure wear. Branded UC or CCM apparel is fine only if it is not a t-shirt.

If your attire does not meet these standards and you are unable to change before the house opens, the House Manager may dismiss you from the shift—and you will not receive credit.

Check-In:

Please report to the House Manager in the inner lobby of the Performance Hall where you’re assigned. You’ll receive instructions and an overview of the evening at that time. Please note that posted end times may vary—the House Manager will provide an updated run time during check-in.
