Do What You Love to End ALZ might be your perfect match!

Team Up

Join monthly (often virtual) committee meetings to brainstorm, collaborate, and celebrate wins together.

Pick Your Passion

Focus on what excites you most:

Recruitment Marketing & Outreach Community Engagement

Fundraising Can Be Anything You Love:

Volunteer: Local Writers Class

Our mission is to bring teenagers and adults with and without disabilities together for projects of mutual interest.  We have proudly offered continuing education classes, service projects and theatrical plays to the community for the last 30 years.

Last session, we began reading selections from Ohio writer, James Thurber.  During this class, we will examine the creative writing of another Ohio author, Erma Bombeck.  This class is open to people of all reading levels (from no reading interest/ability at all to super prolific readers).  We will partner up during the class and have small group discussions about what we see happening in the poems.  We may also draw pictures based on the images in the poems as well.

Volunteers will work with participants with disabilities to facilitate getting words to paper and brainstorming ideas as well as participating in the class.

To help you, and our participants to get the most of the experience, volunteers are asked to read our volunteer handout prior to attending an event.

Volunteer: Coding Help For Non-Profit Retail Site

We are a fair trade non-profit retail organization and we are hoping to launch our first e-commerce site with Shopify asap but have run into an issue. We have two store locations and currently the site allows customers to add products from both stores into their cart, but then they cannot check out because some items are only available at one store. We need someone to write code that forces them to choose a store to shop from and only allows them to shop from that store's inventory. Having this website will allow us to reach more customers than ever and help support more artisans around the world with fair wages.

Volunteer: Serve Breakfast and Start your Day with Heart!

Looking for a meaningful way to start your morning? Join our breakfast team at St. Francis Seraph Ministries and help serve a hot meal to our neighbors experiencing poverty in Over-the-Rhine.

From coffee to conversation, every plate you serve helps build connection, dignity, and hope. It’s more than breakfast — it’s community.

Breakfast Shift: 6:45 AM – 9:00 AM (Monday–Friday)

Each morning, our volunteers work side by side to serve food and smiles. You’ll leave energized, inspired, and ready to take on your day — knowing you’ve made a difference before most people have had their first cup of coffee.

Where You’ll Find Us:

St. Anthony Center (corner of Liberty and Republic), just 1.5 miles from UC.
Free parking is available in front of the building or behind St. Francis Seraph School (enter from Vine St. and park between the green school fence and Hubert St.).

Whether you’re naturally an early riser or just want to try something new, breakfast service is a beautiful way to begin the day with purpose.

Volunteer: Blood Drive Assistance - Week of 11/17/25-11/20/25

Monday, November 17th - Friday, November 20th, 2025, will be the dates for the next UC ALL CAMPUS BLOOD DRIVE!  The blood drive runs from 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday-Thursday and from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM on Friday in the Great Hall of Tangeman University Center (TUC).

Hoxworth Blood Center will need some assistance from volunteers to work with Hoxworth staff in order to; welcome donors, helping to direct donors, checking in donors for blood drive appointments, assisting donors with basic questions, assisting donors with drinks/snacks, providing give-a-way items, monitoring donors for any donation reactions and generally making sure the blood drive runs well.

We have space for up to six (6) volunteers to participate in a four (4) hour time frame on two different shifts, Monday through Thursday we will have an early shift (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM) and a late shift (1:00 PM - 5:00 PM). On Friday we will have an opportunity for up to six (6) volunteers on both the early shift (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM) and late shift (12:00 PM - 4:00 PM).  We know this is a long commitment for a day but also are limiting the amount of volunteer participants.  We will contact waitlist volunteers if an opening becomes available as soon as possible.

Hoxworth Blood Center Staff will be on-site to help any of the volunteers that are able to give their time to assist.  Please email Bobby Boettcher (boettcra@ucmail.uc.edu) regarding questions about the blood drive.

We rely heavily on UC volunteers participating in the blood drive to help make sure other Bearcats have a great experience at the blood drive events.  Your assistance is needed and very appreciated. This counts as an off-site activity, even though it is on-campus.

IMPORTANT:  If you sign up and must cancel due to illness (within 48 hours of the event) please email Jamie (james.glahn@uc.edu) and Bobby (boettcra@ucmail.uc.edu), so we are aware and can contact volunteers on the wait list. Please remember, if you sign up and don't participate, you are taking away someone else's opportunity to help and get community service hours.

Thank you for viewing this need and everything you do for your community!

Volunteer: BioBlitz at Bull's Run Arboretum

Head out with your camera and take photos of the plants and animals you see within Bull's Run. We are using the free iNaturalist app to gather data on the various species of plants and animals living at Bull's Run. All you need is your phone and the app.

Volunteer: Grab and Go Individual Community Clean-Up

Grab a few friends and join us in cleaning the community!

When you arrive to 2728 Short Vine St., you will check-in, grab a provided trash grabber, and either a bucket or a trash bag to collect any trash found. After you check-in, you will need to watch a safety video made by UCPD police officers. You will not be permitted to volunteer until after you watch the safety video.

Choose any area in the surrounding community to get started! You can clean up near the check-in site in Corryville—or you can make your way to a place that may be a little further away. This option could be useful if you want to clean up the pathways that you usually take to class, or if you'd like to clean somewhere where you typically spend a lot of time

Make sure to arrive with enough time to finish the clean-up! We suggest giving yourself one hour—at least—to check-in, clean, and check-out. All supplies will need to be checked back in to 2728 Short Vine St. at 12:50pm. The opportunity ends at 1pm, but to allow for check-out time, please arrive at or before 12:50pm. The opportunity starts at 10:30am, but feel free to arrive any time before 12:00pm. You will most likely get turned away if you arrive after 12:00pm because there will not be enough time to complete the clean up in that timeframe.

How are my volunteer hours determined?

One full bucket (buckets MUST be filled to the rim of the bucket for one half hour)1/2 of a volunteer hour
One full trash bag (trash bags MUST be filled to the top. If another bucket can be added to the trash bag, it is not full)3 volunteer hours

** If you do not completely fill your bucket/bag, the hours awarded for your service will be decided by the event organizer. **

Since the event is 2.5 hours long, 2.5 hours is displayed below. Volunteer hours only follow the guidelines outlined above.

If you're participating with a group, the total trash collected will be divided amongst the total number of group members.
