Saturday Hoops is a free group mentoring program of Cincinnati Youth Collaborative that strives to make a safe space for kids (ages 3-18) on Saturdays for them to learn new things, meet new friends, and develop skills that will help them become future leaders. We create this opportunity by providing food (breakfast and lunch) and doing activities such as basketball, soccer, arts and crafts, reading, yoga, football, workouts, and so much more. We also establish this safe space by having our volunteers promote a positive environment and demonstrating our core themes to students (Cheerful Giver, Hard Worker, Overcomer, and Good Steward). Join us in connecting with kids every Saturday from 9:30 am to 12:30 at one of our locations (Avondale, West End, Winton Hills, and at Zielger Park during the Summer).

You will receive two (2) hours for every Whole Blood (typical) donation.

Those of you who donate other platforms; Automated Red Cells and Platelets/Plasma will earn more time based on these processes taking more time and additional criteria.

If you donate Automated (Double) Red Cells you will receive four (4) hours of community service.  

If you donate Platelets/Plasma you will receive five (5) hours of community service.

If you are DEFFERRED (not allowed to donate due to a medical issue that is not your fault), you can submit up to two 2 hours for your time.

Once you have donated and submitted your hours for approval, we will look in our system to verify your donation and then approve your hours.  If you haven't donated yet, please do not submit time for hours, as we will verify all hours with our donation records and if we don't find your information, will decline your hours.

At Give Like a Mother (GLAM), our goal is to get kids to school dressed in a way that makes them feel comfortable and confident. We use gently used and new donations from the community to provide Personalized, Age-appropriate, Confidence-boosting Kits (PACKs), which include a week’s worth of outfits.

Volunteer Opportunities include:

Bundling socks and underwear
Fulfilling clothing requests

As a Welcome Mentor, you’ll play a vital role in creating a warm and supportive environment for English learners. Volunteers help set up and tear down the classroom space, greet and welcome students, and support the instructor during class activities. This opportunity is perfect for UC students who enjoy meeting new people, building cross-cultural friendships, and making others feel at home. No teaching experience or foreign language skills are required—just a welcoming spirit and a willingness to help.

Guiding Light Mentoring is seeking a volunteer to help create and design their 2024 annual report. The report will include program services, total youth served, financial information, etc. from 2024. 

Responsibilities include:

Design Layout: Create a cohesive visual layout for the report that includes a cover page, table of contents, and sections for text, images, and graphs. Ensure the design aligns with the organization's branding guidelines.

Integration of Content: Integrate provided text and images into the layout, ensuring all elements are well-organized and easy to navigate.

Revisions and Deliverables: Provide up to three rounds of revisions based on feedback from the organization to ensure the final product meets expectations. Deliver a print-ready PDF version of the Annual Report and an editable version (if applicable) for future updates.

Collaboration: Work closely with the organization to understand the key messages and themes that need to be communicated in the report.

Experience: Experience in designing reports or publications is highly desirable.

We are looking for youth soccer coaches for the FC Cincinnati Foundation West End Pride program. Teams available from Preschool to U14, both boys and girls teams available. All equipment will be provided, and no soccer coaching experience needed. Each team will have 2+ coaches so you will not have to run the team alone, and you can sign up with your friends!

Practice will be once a week from 6-7:30pm, with 1-2 games most weekends. Season will run from mid August to late October.

GiGi’s Playhouse Cincinnati is looking for dedicated UC students to serve as 1:1 literacy tutors for individuals with Down syndrome. Reading is more than just a skill—it’s a key to independence, inclusion, and lifelong learning. But here’s the challenge: we can only match about 50% of our participants due to a shortage of volunteers. You can help change that.

As a tutor, you’ll be paired with one student and commit to just one hour a week for 10–15 weeks. We’ll provide all the training and materials you need, tailored to how individuals with Down syndrome learn best. You’ll use a proven, research-based approach that focuses on comprehension, speech, memory, and most importantly—confidence.

Join the Grail for our monthly volunteer days to remove invasive plants so our beneficial native plants and wildlife can flourish. By volunteering, you’ll not only contribute to the health of our ecosystem but also enhance the beauty of over 70 acres of land enjoyed by visitors and hikers.

These volunteer days are held on the second Saturdays of each month from 9 am to 12 pm at The Grail’s Headquarters, Grailville, 931 O'Bannonville Rd, Loveland, OH 45140. Volunteers will use loppers, hand saws, and chainsaws (for those who are comfortable with them) to cut down and cut up invasive honeysuckle and Callery Pear from the property as well as pull out other invasive plants. Each “All About Me Board” is designed to capture the Favorite Things, Life Story and What Matters Most. Many of our patients struggle with communication barriers or advanced dementia. At a glance, anyone that walks into the room can have access to important information to give that patient a great experience. Each board is purposefully designed to look homemade, unique and specially made just for that patient. Pictures can be added to provide recognition and points of conversation.

The HOC End of Life Doula will sit down and complete the board with either the caregiver and/or patient. Overall, HOC Navigators serve 6,000 patients each year – so we need a lot of help!!!! Our solution is to recruit Community Service Volunteers to help. Gather your businesses, churches, schools and social groups to do together. We also have open service days where you can meet new friends!

Materials are provided or you can host a drive for scrapbook paper, stickers and glue to support the effort prior to serving. HOC will provide a workspace, speaker and facilitator if desired. Each person needs to bring their own pair of scissors, a water bottle, creativity and desire to make a difference! This project can also be done as a remote service opportunity.

At Washington UCC we have community lunch 4 days a week, feeding the low-income and homeless people in our own neighborhood of Camp Washington.

Lunch is served as a sit-down meal or as a takeout option.

We are located only a 5-minute drive from the UC campus and within walking distance from the west side of campus. 

We are looking for volunteers from approximately 9:30-12:30 (can come a little later and leave a little earlier) any day Monday-Thursday. We are open to people interested in volunteering the same shift each week or a one-time volunteer opportunity. 

Primary Lunch Volunteer Tasks/Responsibilities:

-              Serve lunch to lunch guests starting at noon. Lunch is served in a manner similar to a school lunch, where guests walk down the line while volunteers serve them food. 

-              Assist the cook with making lunch

-              Assist with putting the different components of lunch (meal, side, desert) into the takeout containers and packing the takeout bags with utensils and drinks.

-              Assist with clean-up such as by wiping down table surfaces, washing dishes, sweeping the floor, and putting everything back where it belongs

-              Assist with sorting and bagging Last Mile food donations

-              Other miscellaneous tasks that need to be done in order to serve lunch

Girls on the Run offers afterschool programs for girls in 3rd-8th grade that build confidence, teach healthy habits, and unlock inner strength through running and walking. Coaches do NOT need to be runners, just committed to inspiring young girls and attending practices regularly.

What can YOU gain from coaching?

Girls on the Run Cincinnati hosts two seasons each year, spring and fall, and recruits volunteer coaches for each. Teams have two to six coaches who lead the girls through their lessons of discussions, fun physical activities, and goal setting. Coaches and girls meet 2x/week for 8 weeks, culminating in the GOTR 5K event! Our research-based curriculum offers an easy-to-follow program and coaches are provided with all the necessary resources and materials to have a successful season. Mt. Healthy is a small municipality north of College Hill, and our street tree program is all-volunteer run. We will be mulching street trees: light labor filling bags with wood chips and spreading the chips around the trees. Work gloves are all that's needed.

Enjoy maintenance work? We always need help to maintain our properties! Join our maintenance team on various projects! There is no set schedule. We'd work around you!

Help our residents start and keep up with their gardening plans this spring and summer! This activity will be at a residence in the Blue Ash area. The activity schedule is based upon when the volunteer is available. Most afternoons after 2pm will work for residents. 

Help our residents practice Yoga! Timing can be based upon volunteer's availability.

We are looking for individuals to help get our residents active and social. Whether it's attending a social event or just having a board game night, it's always a good time! The goal is relationship building! The timing can depend upon the volunteer's availability. 

Help get our Kennedy Heights community out and active! Every other Saturday we get outside to play various games like corn hole and latter ball. On rainy days we enjoy WI Sports or some rounds of Uno. We need volunteers to engage in these activities with our community. 

Hospice of Cincinnati is the largest non-profit hospice provider in the Cincinnati region and is a part of the TriHealth System. Vigil volunteers provide a compassionate presence and promote a relaxing environment for those in the last 24 - 48 hours of life when symptom management is not required. High need for Evening, Nights and Weekends. The duties include active listening, empathetic conversations, observing for symptom changes and escalating needs to the HOC care team. No hands-on care is required. Students are allowed to bring study materials while sitting vigil. The minimum shift is 2 hours although 4 hours is preferred. Shifts can be prescheduled or sign up same day. Transportation is required as most vigil requests occur in Assisted Living or Nursing home facilities. Discover the Silver Spoons volunteer program, which provides inpatients with nourishing meals and heartfelt support. Silver Spoons is a unique team of specially trained volunteers to assist with mealtime for inpatients.

Founded on the belief that proper nutrition is crucial for healing, Silver Spoons also emphasizes the power of human connection through volunteer interactions to enhance the patient experience.

If you're mobile and are looking to fulfill a few hours of service, we have the perfect opportunity for you! All that is required is loading up as much as you can haul (or that we have) into your Smart car, Prius, S10, Van-life van or whatever and transporting our sorted goods to be rehoused. Whether you want to take it to your favorite non-profit organization or just want to rehouse it to one of our partners, the choice is up to you. We can help with the loading but if you want to bring a friend with you to help with the unloading, no problem!

Guests who arrive usually have cleaned clothes that they have previously left to be laundered. Once clean, we store a guests bag until they return. We are looking for individuals interested in assisting the process of going-for (go-pher this or go-pher that) guest bags, searching for shoes, helping to restock clothing that is provided to new guests and bringing the freshly laundered clothes downstairs to the front desk for distribution. If working in a non-profit and directly helping those in our community sounds like your thing, come give us a hand:)

*Note: this position requires minor lifting and walking with stairs involved. Those who cannot easily navigate both conditions may find this to be a difficult task and may want to look at a different opportunity offered by MMH

Social Media Intern Overview:
The Social Media Intern is an unpaid internship that will assist in creating and managing digital content to engage Groundwork Ohio River Valley’s audience and amplify our impact. This internship role will last
approximately 3 months with the option to extend or to allow further flexibility if the applicant is enrolled in a participating university (this is not a requirement). This role is ideal for individuals interested in social media strategy, digital marketing, and storytelling for social change.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
● Working with Program staff and Green Team to develop, curate, and schedule engaging content for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube).
● Monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages, and foster online community interactions.
● Assist in creating graphics, videos, and other multimedia content using design tools like Canva or Adobe Express.
● Support social media campaign planning, including environmental awareness initiatives.
● Research and identify digital trends and best practices for nonprofit outreach.
● Assist Operations Director with utilizing the Organization’s branding toolkit to ensure all staff are provided with a clear understanding of our best branding practices.
● Assist Operations Director with maintaining the organization’s website and ensuring that it stays up to date with current staff, news, job postings, etc.
● Manage and maintain the Social Media Calendar to schedule posts for all program areas.
● Update brochures, fliers, business cards, other electronic and printed materials to adhere to our branding guidelines.
● Maintain a photo and video library specifically in addition to all digital assets.

● Represent Groundwork Ohio River Valley at community meetings, events, and tabling opportunities.
