Take a Ride on the Polar Express is an in-person program for school aged kids (ages 5-12) with autism and their families to celebrate the holiday season! Our programs to encourage engagement, creativity, socialization, and of course, FUN! We will host families for a collection of holiday-themed activities, including a picture with Santa, cookie decorating, letters to Santa, music and dance, and much more. The program takes place on the second Saturday of each month at Linden Grove School (4122 Myrtle Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45236). Transportation is needed to and from Linden Grove School, and travel time is included in volunteer hours.
At our Polar Express event, volunteers will work directly with kids with autism and their families by assisting Autism Connections staff to facilitate all of the programs.
We have a short (<30 minutes) set of Volunteering Training Videos that we ask you to complete before you volunteer with us. By clicking this Volunteer Checklist Form, you will be redirected to an online form. In the form, there is a link to the Volunteer Training Video (17 minutes), which all volunteers should watch. After this, you should watch the video for the program that you will volunteer for, whether this is Teen Time Hangouts (6 minutes) or Kids Exploring Fun (5 minutes), both of which are linked in the form. We will provide 1 hour of volunteer time for completing the volunteer videos and filling out the Volunteer Checklist Form.
