Description

This position is open to any medical/pharmacy student that is proficient in Spanish. Visitors of the Healing Center come for basic needs such as food and clothing. Your role will be to assist other volunteers in communicating with Spanish-speaking individuals during patient intake, health screening visits, and other non-clinical scenarios. You will NOT be performing as an interpreter for any clinical patient encounters. Additional responsibilities may involve operating the UC SRFC front desk at the Healing Center. This includes but is not limited to advertising our free health screenings, clinic visits, and other medical resources within the community. You may also be asked to assume the responsibilities of one of the other volunteer roles depending on the needs that clinic day.

Please arrive at the Healing Center by 8:30 AM. Park behind the building and enter through the staff/volunteer entrances in the back or along the side of the building. Once inside the warehouse, locate the door designated for volunteers. Continue forward through the hallway and past the check-in desk to enter the main lobby. Walk towards the right and past the marketplace and clothing store to meet the team in room 490.

Dress code is business casual or scrubs with white coat and UC badge. Please store any personal belongings in your car. PPE (face masks, eye protection, etc.) are currently optional, but this is subject to change based on guidance from the College of Medicine.
