Marjorie Book seeks volunteers to work alongside teens and adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities as we participate in this volunteer opportunity. Volunteers will receive guidance to assist people with disabilities with the tasks required, or simply work in pairs or small groups and converse while volunteering.
The Mill Creek Trail is a multi-use walking and biking trail that runs in segments from Carthage to Northside. We will use reacher/grabber tools to pick up litter along the trail and prevent it from polluting the Mill Creek, Cincinnati’s urban stream that stretches from Butler County to the Ohio River. We may also pull invasive species. We don’t walk especially far during this service project, and so the activity level should be accessible to all. We do bring a few wheelchairs with us, just in case they are needed. We’ll work rain or shine and meet in the parking lot of the Caldwell Sports Complex. Please dress for the weather, which will likely be cool. Marjorie Book will have ponchos available in case it rains. There is a portable toilet at this location, but only in the summer and the fall and may not be available at this time.
To help you, and our participants to get the most of the experience, volunteers are asked to read our volunteer handout prior to attending an event.
