Call for Student Volunteers

The 2026 UC Digital Accessibility Conference is looking for student volunteers who want to help shape a more accessible digital world. This is your chance to support a meaningful initiative, build professional experience, and connect with leaders in education, accessibility advocacy, and the community.
As a volunteer, you’ll play a key role in creating a welcoming, accessible experience for all attendees—while gaining hands‑on insight into how accessibility drives innovation.

Roles
Roles will be assigned on the day of, first come first serve.
Registration
Volunteers will support the conference welcome experience by staffing the registration check‑in table. This role is ideal for anyone who enjoys greeting attendees, keeping things organized, and helping an event run smoothly.
Welcome and check in attendees as they arrive
Distribute name badges, materials, and schedules
Answer basic event questions and direct guests to the appropriate areas
Assist with on‑site registration for walk‑in participants
Maintain an orderly check‑in flow during peak times
Wayfinding and Event Floater
Wayfinding & Floater volunteers help keep the conference running smoothly by guiding attendees, supporting session transitions, and stepping in wherever an extra set of hands is needed. This is a great fit for people who enjoy being active, helpful, and adaptable throughout the day.
Provide directional guidance to attendees navigating the venue
Assist with room transitions by helping attendees find sessions and workshops
Support event staff as a floater for tasks that arise throughout the day
Monitor high‑traffic areas to ensure smooth flow and answer quick questions
Offer general attendee assistance with a friendly, welcoming presence
Breakout Ambassador
Breakout Room Moderators help ensure that conference sessions run smoothly by supporting speakers, managing the room environment, and assisting attendees. This role is perfect for volunteers who are organized, attentive, and comfortable taking initiative.
- Welcome speakers and attendees as they arrive
- Assist presenters with basic setup needs (timers, slides, materials)
- Monitor session timing and provide gentle cues to keep presenters on schedule
- Manage audience Q&A, including passing microphones or facilitating questions
- Report any technical or logistical issues to event staff promptly
- Maintain an orderly, focused environment throughout the session
