Camp Invention® is coming back to Fairview-Clifton German Language School with an all-new program, Wonder!
What is the program?
In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame®, Fairview-Clifton German Language School is excited to once again offer the nationally acclaimed Camp Invention program to children entering kindergarten through sixth grade. This popular program has earned rave reviews from parents, teachers and — most importantly — campers! Children who join this inspiring, weeklong summer experience will engage in open-ended, hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering and more! Taking on a variety of exhilarating activities each day, campers have fun collaborating with friends, thinking creatively and inventing their own solutions to real-world challenges.
The week begins on July 10th with Allison Sears serving as Director. The all-new 2023 program will spark the imagination of both new and returning campers with an adventure full of inspiration, innovation and unforgettable discoveries!
During this action-packed, confidence-boosting, young innovators will:
- Design and build their own mini skate park, customize their mini skateboard and practice persistence as they take on ramps, bowls, rails and more
- Transform a robot into a one-of-a-kind stuffie while exploring genetics, finding inspiration in nature and taking pride in their individuality
- Take on the role of event planner as they design a grand celebration, invent a Party Assistant and create a light-up party hat and bubble art banner
- Launch their own pop-up business while building entrepreneurship skills, making smart financial choices, using green energy and attracting customers
What will volunteering entail?
Volunteers, or "Leadership Interns," help the campers to settle in to the morning with our Base Camp Activities, lead engaging mid-day fun camp exercises, and help campers in sessions to design and build their creative and innovative inventions.
A volunteer is a great fit for our Leadership Intern role if:
- They enjoy working with young campers (grades K-6)
- Are collaborative and accountable
- Can commit to the full 40 hour week
Upon completion of the program Leadership Interns will receive a Letter of Recommendation from the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Additionally, we encourage volunteers to add the experience to their resumes and applications, and our Camp Director is happy to write additional letters of recommendation and/or references congruent with the volunteer experience.
Please contact the Camp Director, Allison Sears, with any additional questions about this opportunity.
