The Cincinnati Art Museum is participating in a nationwide visitor experience survey called COVES (Collaboration for Ongoing Visitor Experience Studies). What began as a science museum initiative has now expanded to include art museums. The Cincinnati Art Museum is an early supporter and member of this valuable partnership.
Data collected allows us to learn more about our visitors and plan more effectively for exhibits, internal, outreach and school programs. We are also better equipped to apply for grants and awards which require hard data. The Cincinnati Art Museum has been working with a range of staff and volunteers to collect our own visitor impressions and demographic information using this tool. Using the COVES method also allows us to compare our data with institutions that are similar in size, geography, and focus.
On April 2, UC GreekServe volunteers would be working with staff greeting visitors as they exit the museum. Students will be working under a tent on the front plaza (weather permitting) encouraging visitors to complete a set of questions on an iPad. Tables and chairs are provided for the survey takers comfort. Small museum giveaways are available as a thank you for the visitor's time. Volunteers would be given an Art Museum t-shirt to wear during the event and keep as our thank you for their time.
