Volunteer: Invasive Plant Removal at Whitetail Preserve

The WWC has a number of beautiful wooded properties along the Ohio River, west of downtown.  One of our biggest tasks is removing invasive plants such as honeysuckle, so that native plants including wildflowers can return.  This is physical outside work, cutting honeysuckle, and putting the cut honeysuckle into large piles.  We do this as members of the WWC, and several times a year we have service groups including UC students help us too.  BUT WE NEED MORE HELP!  There are acres of gorgeous woods just waiting to be set free!

This particular project will be focused on removing honeysuckle, and perhaps some trail repair too.

NOTE:  attached is a file with a lengthy description of the habitat restoration work.

Work 1:30 pm to 4 pm (2.5 hrs) but get 4 hours credit.

This particular Tuesday project will be at our Whitetail Nature preserve.  Park at the our parking lot at 6081 Hillside Ave, 45233.

Volunteer: Passover Seder Clean-up

We at Cincinnati Hillel need help cleaning our kitchen and dining hall at the end of our annual Passover Seder.

This is a big help to our organization, as we need assistance in cleaning-up from dinner. While you are also welcome to join us for dinner, beginning around 6pm, the focus of this volunteer experience is to help us clean-up from dinner. Please be there by 7pm.

There are two main places we need help, the kitchen and the dining hall, where dinner takes place.

Kitchen Tasks are as Follows:

Proceed to our kosher kitchen and begin washing any leftover kitchen utensils in the sink.  Take out trash bags to our (brown) garbage bins just outside the building. Then place new bags in the trash can (as needed).  Dry any utensils which have been washed and put them away in the proper kitchen under the supervision of a Hillel staff member.  Cover, box, and refrigerate any leftovers into the proper kitchen marking the date it was put in the fridge.  Ensure stoves and ovens have been turned down (pilot light being on is fine).  Close kitchen lights.

Dinning Room (Great Hall) Tasks:

Gather ritual items off the table and put them away for use in the future.    Collect water jugs and place in the kitchen. Collect any spare cutlery and plates, dispose of plastic ware.  Take out trash bins and replace with new bags (as needed).  Strip table cloths off of tables and collect them in a location in the basement for washing. Push chairs into the tables. Turn off lights.

Volunteer: Blood Drive Assistance - Week of 04/06/26-04/10/26

Monday, April 6th, 2026 - Friday, April 10th, 2026, will be the dates for the next UC ALL CAMPUS BLOOD DRIVE!  The blood drive runs from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday-Thursday and 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM on Friday and will be on donor buses parked on Bearcat Commons.  This activity will be mostly outside on Bearcat Commons, so plan to dress appropriately for the weather daily.

Hoxworth Blood Center will need some assistance from volunteers to work with Hoxworth staff in order to; welcome donors, helping to direct donors into each bus, signing up donors for blood drive appointments, assisting donors with basic questions, assisting donors with drinks/give-a-way items, monitoring donors for any donation reactions and generally making sure the blood drive runs well.

We have space for up to three (3) volunteers to participate in a three and a half (3.5) hour time frame on two different shifts each day.  Monday through Thursday we will have an early shift (9:30 AM - 1:00 PM) and a late shift (1:00 PM - 4:30 PM). On Friday we will have an early shift (8:30 AM - 12:00 PM) and late shift (12:00 PM - 3:30 PM).  We know this is a long commitment for a day but also are limiting the number of volunteer participants.  We will contact waitlist volunteers if an opening becomes available.

Hoxworth Blood Center Staff will be on-site to help any of the volunteers that are able to give their time to assist.  Please email Jamie Glahn (james.glahn@uc.edu) regarding volunteering and Bobby Boettcher (boettcra@ucmail.uc.edu) regarding questions about the blood drive.

We rely heavily on UC volunteers participating in the blood drive to help make sure other Bearcats have a great experience at the blood drive events.  Your assistance is needed and very appreciated. This counts as an off-site activity, even though it is on campus.

IMPORTANT:  If you sign-up and have to cancel due to illness (within 48 hours of the event) please email Jamie (james.glahn@uc.edu) and Bobby (boettcra@ucmail.uc.edu), so we are aware and can contact volunteers on the wait list. Please remember, if you sign-up and don't participate, you are taking away someone else's opportunity to help and get community service hours.

Thank you for viewing this need and everything you do for your community!

Ghar Ghar Langar Sewa (GGLS) delivers free meals every day to homeless and vulnerable families in India. We started during COVID and never stopped. So far we have given out over 686,000 food packets and 2,500 ration kits. We also help during floods and run community care centers. Strong submissions may be shared with real partners or used in outreach.

WHAT YOU WILL WRITE- 3 hours per prompt
Pick one option below and submit it as a Google Doc or PDF.
Option 1: Corporate Pitch (150 to 250 words)
Write a short message to a company, foundation, or sponsor asking them to support GGLS.
Start by explaining what GGLS does and who they help. Then explain why their support matters and what difference it makes. You can mention daily meal distribution, flood relief, or long term community impact.
End with a clear ask. Sponsorship, partnership, or funding. Keep it professional but simple. Think of it like a real email to a company.

Option 2: Awareness Brief (200 to 300 words)
Write something that could be posted on LinkedIn, a company newsletter, or a CSR blog.
Open strong. Then explain what GGLS does, who they serve, and why it matters. Include a few impact points like meals served or disaster response. Keep the tone informative but warm.
End with a soft call to action. Encourage readers to learn more, donate, or share.

Option 3: Donor Impact Letter (200 to 300 words)
Write a letter from the point of view of a volunteer or someone receiving help.
Tell a simple and real story. Describe what a day looks like or what the support means to them. Keep it honest and grounded. Small details make it feel real.
End by thanking the donor and showing how their support makes a direct difference.

SUBMISSION RULES

Your writing must be your own.
AI generated submissions will not earn hours. This opportunity is about building your own voice and skills.

Volunteer: All Day: Incline Run Cleanup Day with Price Hill Will

Join us for a hands-on day of neighborhood stewardship at Incline Run, a pedestrian pathway in Cincinnati’s historic Price Hill Incline District. Incline Run is a unique, quiet greenspace connecting the East and Lower Price Hill neighborhoods. Our goal is simple: refresh and beautify Incline Run this spring.

Volunteers will spend the day helping to:

• Remove overgrown weeds and invasive plants

• Pick up litter along the pathway

• Plant new greenery in our artistic planters along the trail

This project is perfect for anyone who enjoys being outdoors, getting their hands dirty, and making a visible difference in a beloved public space. We'll provide tools, gloves, and lunch for volunteers that day. Whether you stay for an hour or the whole day, your help will make a real impact on this unique hillside pathway.

Project Lead: Ashley Feist, Price Hill Will

Project Lead Contact: Ashley@pricehillwill.org, 513-824-1215 (both calls and texts are welcome)

Parking Instructions:

Use 2570 Maryland Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45204 in your GPS to reach the Incline Run entrance.
Because Incline Run is a pedestrian pathway built from a closed section of Maryland Avenue, vehicles cannot drive onto the trail itself.
The easiest place to park is along the upper section of Maryland Avenue or nearby streets in the Incline District, including:
-Maryland Avenue (north of the trail entrance)
-Mt. Hope Avenue
-nearby side streets
From there, it is a short walk downhill to the Incline Run entrance.

Notable Landmarks Near Project Site: The project site is located near East Price Hills Incline District, the intersection of State Avenue and River Road, and minutes from Downtown Cincinnati.

Bathroom Information: There are no restroom facilities directly on site at Incline Run. Volunteers should plan to take breaks at nearby shops or Price Hill Will offices, 3301 Price Ave. Rides will be provided to non-drivers.

Volunteer: Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati - iCan Bike Camp 2026

Volunteer Opportunities working with individuals with Down syndrome.  Our iCan Bike Camp will be held July 6-10, 2026 at Harrison High School in Cincinnati.  iCan Bike Camp uses adapted bicycles, a specialized instructional program and trained staff to enable individuals with disabilities to learn to ride a two-wheel bicycle. Riders attend one 75 minute session each day for five consecutive days where they learn to ride while accompanied and encouraged by volunteer “spotters”.
