How our organization engages UC students

Gorman Heritage Farm is a 122 acre historic working farm that was built in 1835 and has several facets: Education - Over 3500 school children visit the farm annually on field trips to learn where food comes from, about environmental issues, plants, animals, history and the science of farming. Programs - We provide educational workshops on cooking, beekeeping, gardening, composting, raising chickens, canning, photography, natural art, etc.

CSA - We have a Community Supported Agriculture crop share program, that offers fresh organically grown vegetables from our garden.

Harness Club - Our mule team goes 19 times a year to centers/residences for developmentally disabled adults and young people and nursing homes. The club participates in 5 parades and around 8-10 other outreach programs offering rides.

Products - We sell eggs, chicken, pork, beef, vegetables and honey from our Farm. Additionally, we sell other products from small farms and local organizations.

Events - We have several events to bring different guests to our Farm including a dinner dance fundraiser serving our farm raised meat and vegetables and our big Sunflower Festival with hayrides and pumpkins. To accomplish all this we have only 8 staff and a few seasonal employees. So, we rely completely on the generosity of volunteers and workgroups.
