About our Organization
Breakthrough (BTC) is a four-year, tuition-free academic enrichment program for high-potential middle school students who are not familiar with college. BTC’s dual mission is to increase the educational opportunities of middle school students, and to inspire and train the next generation of teachers and educational leaders.
How our organization engages UC students
- Breakthrough Cincinnati’s core program is its annual multi-week Academic Summer Session during which our middle school students develop the academic, organizational, critical thinking, and communications skills needed to succeed in college preparatory high school environments.
- Throughout the school year, Breakthrough offers our students College and Career Exploration Saturday events.
- Each year, the Breakthrough Collaborative serves over 5,400 students. As a national network, 90% of Breakthrough student alumni enroll in college preparatory high schools, graduate from high school on time, and matriculate at four-year colleges/universities. Additionally, over 60% of Breakthrough Teaching Fellow alumni go on to pursue careers in the field of education. Breakthrough Cincinnati has achieved similar successes at the local level.
