Hearts for the Homeless International

About our Organization

Hearts for the Homeless International (H4H) is a student-led, non-profit organization dedicated to reducing health disparities among homeless and underserved populations. Our primary mission is to provide free, accessible blood pressure screenings and cardiovascular health education. By meeting individuals where they are, at food banks, shelters, and community centers, we aim to facilitate early detection of hypertension and empower our participants with the knowledge and resources necessary to manage their heart health effectively.

How our organization engages UC students

We provide UC students with hands-on clinical and community outreach experience. Student volunteers are trained to conduct accurate blood pressure screenings, record health data, and deliver educational materials on cardiovascular wellness. Beyond clinical skills, students engage in direct patient interaction, helping to foster empathy and bridge the gap between healthcare services and vulnerable communities. This role offers students a unique opportunity to contribute to public health initiatives while gaining leadership experience within a global non-profit framework.
