About our Organization

Avondale Development Corporation (ADC) is a neighborhood non-profit community development corporation, also a community housing development organization, with a mission to direct revitalization of the Avondale neighborhood, located centrally in the city of Cincinnati, through developing housing, real estate, and economic initiatives since 2011. ADC works collaboratively with residents and partners to address priorities that promote the well-being of the community. The Avondale neighborhood is primarily a black and brown community with the majority of the residents living at or below poverty and are renters. According to the 2020 US Census data, there are 11,345 residents, 82% are black, 73% are renters (6,410 total housing units), 78% are at or below 80% AMI, and the median household income is $24,250 which is over half of the citywide income of $42,663. The neighborhood of Avondale also has experienced decades of housing disinvestment and has an aging households with 85% of the 7,412 total housing units built before 1980, and also being at-risk for lead-based paint hazards, and only 6% new construction since the year 2000. With such high poverty and rental status in a predominately minority neighborhood, affordable housing, both rental and owner occupied, is a need in the community that requires addressing. ADC is focused on supporting the residents through healthy housing programs to address the current housing stock and increasing stable, affordable rental housing. ADC is developing affordable and workforce owner occupied homes that will require home buyer counseling with financial literacy classes along with down payment assistance for the buyers to support upward mobility of the community.
